As Naina, is busy in the office, Akruti is discussing with Mrs. Deshpande, about her only daughter's wedding. She shows her the different brochures, and after a little while, she gets the smell of fumes and feels uneasy, and Mrs. Deshpande apologizes to her, saying that she had engaged the pest control people to fumigate the house, and offers to close the doors. Akruti tells that she is feeling fine, and they continue their discussion. Soon Akruti feels suffocated, gets, up, holds her hand on the mouth, then she clutches her head, and faints, and falls on her side. Mrs. Deshpande is upset, and decides to call a doctor, but in the meantime, she makes a call to Naina and informs her of the situation.
Naina immediately decides to close the office, and calls Seema, who has almost reached her house. So she decides to go and see Akruti. She knows, that it is against her Minoo Tai's wishes, but her sense of priorities tells her, that helping Akruti comes before everything else. So, clutching her hand bag, she rushes home, and goes to find where Minoo Tai is, as her sense of duty informs her that she should be informed, but seeing her at prayer, she thinks of the next best thing, and snatches a paper and writes her reason for leaving, and places the note under the vase, hoping that she will see it, when she comes out of the prayer room.
Naina comes to Mrs Deshpande's residence, and finds the doctor attending to Akruti who has regained consciousness, by now. The doctor on knowing that Akruti has fainted earlier once, tells Naina to take care of her, and says, that in cases like this, it is common to have fainting fits, but if she takes rest and eats proper food, she will be o.k. Then the doctor leaves. Naina has some quiet time with Akruti and asks her what the doctor meant when she said, "in cases like this" - at first Akruti is unwilling, and finally, she blurts the truth, and tells her that she is pregnant. Naina wants to know if Ayush has been told. From her she comes to know that he is in Bangalore, and cannot be reached on the telephone. Naina then thinks of telling Daksh and getting his help. But Akruti is unwilling to letting him into the secret before she has convinced Ayush. She has very high hopes in him and fully believes that he will not abandon her, and will marry her. She extracts a promise from Naina not to tell any one at home, which she reluctantly agrees to.
In the house, the prayers are over, and the three ladies, walk out, led by the elder sister, and followed by the younger sister on her side, and Rohini trailing behind. The two older women, walk straight, but Rohini's sly eyes fall on the note, and she picks it, reads, and hides it. The Aunt distributes the prasad, and thinks of going to see Naina who is in the office.
As Minoo Tai enters the office, she finds no one, and looks all a round to see if she is
anywhere. Quickly Rohini follows her with a cup of tea, to butter the aunt. She knows that Naina is not in the office, and has gone out. She starts with offering the aunt the tea, which she takes from her hand, and Rohini starts her long playing record of disparaging remarks about Naina, how she does not know her rules, and she needs a lot of training and eventually, she will come round. The aunt listens to her patiently to finish her speech. Then she gets it. Minoo tells her "You need to be taught, before Naina starts her lessons. You also do not know how to behave. Your mother did not teach you how to speak to your in-laws. Do not think, I asked Naina to apologize, because she told you what she told you. No. Absolutely not. I just wanted her to know her place before the elders, which you do not know yourself. So before you advise others, learn yourself. As long as I am here, I will teach you as well as Naina, all the good manners." Then she sips her tea, and gives the cup back to her. "Vibha prepared this tea, did she not? From tasting the first sip, I knew." Rohini puts her head down and walks back, home.
As Minoo corrects Rohini, Akruti and Naina enter and Minoo starts correcting Naina. The Aunt rushes to judge her, before giving her a chance to say anything. Akruti sees all sides, and how they pounce of this friend of hers, who came to help her risking her own future with this Aunt of theirs. The rudeness has a limit, and Naina tries to tell her very politely that there was no way she could leave this important job, about which she is bound by a promise not to tell. She tells her that she wanted to inform her, that she came home and they were at prayers, and that she wrote a note and kept it under the vase. Minoo Tai tells her she did not see any note, and Rohini smiles at herself. Minoo comes to the conclusion, that Naina will not change, and instead she will have to change to suit her daughter in law, and keep looking after the house, while she will carry on as a modern woman. She leaves the office, and Rohini trails behind her. Akruti feels sorry for Naina, because she had to hear all this for her sake, and she did not give out her secret.
Naina leaves them and goes, and cries, and Abhi goes to cajole her, and all he is
interested that his mother will not turn against his plans. He feels that her one 'mistake', of going out without his mother's consent, has made (him insecure) and her unhappy, and that does not serve his purpose. He tries to assert his male control over Naina, and asks her to say sorry to his mother, and just to oblige him, she agrees, and then, holding her hand, he comes down to meet his mother, and says, "Ayee, Naina has something to say to you."
There is a stark difference between the approach of Abhi and that of Daksh, and one should expect, that it has not escaped Naina's notice too.
When Abhi notices that Naina is very upset, he calms down, and says that he is very sorry, but we know it is more out of protecting his own interest. Naina looks at him with a blank face, and he presumes everything that he has won her over. He takes her to his mother.
Vidhyadhar and his wife are sitting and to show Minoo Tai, that she has changed,
Rohini goes to them and says sorry for talking to them with raised voice and they look at each other and at Minoo Tai, to figure out the change in Rohini. Then Rohini takes a seat and sits with them. In the meantime, Daksh too has returned from his office, and takes a seat amidst them. He sees Naina coming in, with Abhi as is concerned about her, feeling that something has gone wrong. Apprehensively he waits. They all wait what Naina has to say. She has always been bending over backwards, to please this lady, because her nature is such, that she cannot hurt any one. For her to say sorry, is easier than hurting them with rude words. So, we hear, it comes out of her mouth: "Sorry Maushi. I made a mistake. I had kept the fast, but this work was too important and I had to go. I will try my best to be a good daughter in law." Abhi is relieved, that he has won his battle. Daksh is gnashing his teeth.
The Aunt says solemnly, that if that is the case, she has forgiven her. But she has a condition, which she has to agree to. She should give up working, and be a home-bound woman. All are outraged, but Naina is stunned and in a daze. Vibha says to her sister, that what she does is not right. Naina tries to stop her, but she tells her that now she has to say, what she has on her mind. She tells her, "Naina has painstakingly built this business, and it is not fair, to ask her to relinquish it."
Vidhyadar too adds his voice vehemently and supports his wife, and coming close to his sister in law, he tells her, "You are absolutely wrong in asking her to do this." Daksh too adds his point and tells his aunt, that if people know Naina, it is because of her work among them. Rohini interferes, and says, after all Minoo Tai is asking Naina for her own good. Daksh turns round to her angrily, and asks her straight to her face, "Rohini, if my mother asked you to leave your job, would you have done it?" She has no answer.
Vibha tries to din some sense into her sister, and tells her that the bitterness of her first meeting with Naina in the market is the reason why she is so hard on her. She asks her to give her a chance, and see how good a person she is.
The final verdict comes from Minoo Tai, which would give hope to the viewers:
"Vibha, if you like Naina so much, why do you not get her married to Daksh?" All look at each other. Abhi is in a quandary. Daksh has hope on his face, and Naina does not know what has hit her.

A stark difference in the two sisters, Minoo and Vibha comes out as Vibha gets the courage to voice her own opinion. Once she comes out then, her husband and son too give their support. Minoo is isolated now, and Rohini comes to her help. Rohini is a termite in the Patwardan family. When she finds her support, Minoo gets her thoughts in a line, and voices them, and then comes Abhi with a counter voice, and she feels vulnerable, and hurt, and says, ": My son too, has forgotten his mother:" - so, it is a tussle, between the two sisters. The elder wants to assert her position, built over the submission of her younger sibling. Naina, an outsider is the catalyst in the demolition of this myth.
Naina has been under the fear of rejection, even since the day she found out that she was not the real daughter of Anjali, and left her home. She knows how people view illegitimate children and as yet, not informed her stepmother of this proposal. She finds solace in her friend in Darjeeling. Then after house hunting, she finds Vibha, and subconsciously takes her as her mother, who does not fit in when she has to advise her, and as a result Naina is on her own. But for Vibha she is a substitute daughter, whom she did not have. And when choices are to be made, she has no difficulty in offering this jewel of a girl, to her sister, out of deference to her, forgetting her own need, and that of her son Daksh. Here is a shock to awaken her, but will she open her eyes?

In the pre-cap, Abhi goes to Naina, and tries to salvage what is left. We do not know what motivates him, whether self preservation, or interest of Naina. He tells her, "Naina, I think you should not listen to (my) mother." He says, "Ayee", but she calls Daksh's mother Ayee, and his mother Maushi. We have to wait to see the real implication, on Monday.
If she works, she will bring added income to the family, as God alone knows what work Abhi is doing. We have seen Sanket and Daksh going to work, but him, we have only seen gallivanting and romancing around.
