Best example in this case is Rajeev Khandelwal who worked with the same production house Balaji Telefilms. He was portraying Sujal Garewal and was told to do a rape scene. That didn't gel with his character. He objected to it and from then on tiffs started between him and Ekta. He tried to point out the fallacies of the script cos the serial was going down the drain but Ekta kept on adding nonsensical tracks and even reduced his role. Ultimately he walked out of the show.

OMG niki dat was the reason why Rajeev left dat show...i thought he had some personal issues wid prod.house lke IQ has during KYPH time(mostly wid Neha though)..
if dats the reason i dont blame Rajeev at all but as you said TV actors do only wat dey are told..dey cant even object also..

Gene, it started from there only. That issue was nipped up and track was changed. But the problems continued. Rajeev did not like the story, they were making it bizarre and he wanted to quit. But both he and production house were under pressure, Rajeev was under pressure of fans and production house was under pressure cos Sujal was the soul of the show and finding a replacement would be difficult. They sorted out the matter by saying things would improve. The technical team especially did not want Rajeev to leave as they were close to him.

But when he returned then they changed the track and started a parallel track focussing on the other actors. He had like- one scene in three episodes. Whatever scenes were given to him were silly. Inside news is that he was not happy and was consistently told to do quietly what other actors were doing- he said in an interview that he was told- "when other actors can do it why can't you do it?".

But he did not do it and quit the show instead.

Niki... dats such a sad story but Sujal charecter was played by 3 actors if i'm not mistaken..it is Ekta for you..noone should oppose you wen it comes to the storyline but the way Rajeev got treated esp his charecter getting cropped is really pathetic..no wonder he opted to leave the show rather dan getting insulted like dat..

but Rajeev-Aamna shared a great chemistry despite it was for a short time..never saw dat show but have a little idea abt it..

i saw KWK epi of Ekta..she was literally making fun of Rajeev,IQ,Kyunki guy(dun remember his name) and getting wah wah frm Hiten,Ram,Ronit..

dats the main thing wid dis lady..if she likes dem she'll be awesomee wid dem and if not doesnt give a damn to dem..

OMG itna sab hua tha with Rajeev.. I never knew all this 😲.. Thanks Nisha and Niki...

Rape scene and that too Sujal ... Could not imaging this... Good he had guts to oppose this crap... And best decision was to quit... I always supported his action of quitting as there was nothing left in the serial for him... He was the best and replacement of him was just 🥱...

Sujal was played by two characters- Rajeev and Gurpreet.

It happens everywhere Gene, once you start having creative diffferences and oppose the show you are shown the door.

All the leads in Ekta's serials have done many pathetic things. Sushant too had to do sindoor filling scene (with shravani) about which he commented later that TRP's make characters characterless. Why did all these leads never object? Cos they know that in this industry you are not supposed to find faults in the script. If you dont like a show just pack and go. That is what Rajeev did.
