After JODHAA AKBAR, period films out of STYLE?!

😭😭😭 I miss the films like JODHAA AKBAR these days. Ashtoush Gowariker made a masterpiece that gave people a different type of film from the ordinary. Aishu and Hritik were stellar in their roles. These are the type of films you will remember 20-30 years from now. Ever since JODHAA AKBAR, some period films have been made (like VEER) but have not made the impact one would expect. I remember when JODHAA AKBAR became a hit, the industry proclaimed the return of period films and it was back with a bang! So, no other filmmakers are attempting period films anymore?! Aishu excels in these type of roles and I want her to do another period film. A period film on TAJ MAHAL was supposed to be made with Aishu, but it got shelved years ago! Also, there was talk of Kehan Mehta making a period film on JHANSI KI RANI. But, that never took off!

Do you want a mega period film back? I don't think any of the current actresses can pull it off like Sonam (😆), Kat (😲), Deepika (she tried with that Ashtoush film with Abhishek, but it failed miserably (😕 ), Asin (🥱), or even Anuskha ()! 😕😕😕

What will it take for period films to come back with a BANG? Come on, please share your thoughts on this and let's get the topic rolling please! 😃

Well not everyone has the budget to make a period drama, or the time to do research...AG devoted 5 years for research!

And not everyone can do period roles...it all depends on many factors!

Plus, it's a load of hard work to get the sets right, correct costumes, and style of dialouges...whoever has the patience can make it...but def don't see anymore Period films in the near future!

Remember that director Bharat Bala Hetal?! 😡 This was the 2002 timeframe. Taj Mahal was announced and Aishu was going to appear in India's first IMAX film. Then, the male lead never got announced. It was rumored to be Amitabh Bachchan at one time! 😆 Years went by and there was no progress on the film! Then, it got shelved without any notice! And I also hate Kehan Mehta. Aishu lost interest because Kehan was not serious! You cannot play games, either make the film or don't! J.P. Dutta also did the same thing with MAHARANI GAYATRI DEVI! It is the films like JODHAA AKBAR which will be remembered for generations! I want a PERIOD film again, tired of the garbage like THANK YOU and TEES MAAR KHAN! 😭

I really don't like period movies. I loved Jodhaa akbar because of hrithik-aish jodi. If it's an old movie, I'll watch it but if it's a new movie based on period movies than I'll pass

I think sonam (looks wise) would fit the piece really well for period films.. although i dont mind period films nowadays its really people working for a meal..so they'll make what they know works rather than taking a 50/50 risk

I looove period films. I'd like to see more of them in bollywood!
Ash and Hrithik were amazing in them.
But I think anushka can pull of these kind of roles. She is a good actress!

but it all depends on the directors. They are too scared to try something new.. 😡 or perhaps too lazy. whenever they get a time from, remaking originials...

I love period movies wish they would make more. It brings you to another area, Jodhaa Akbar is a perfect example! But I think it was always difficult to make period movie because it is big risk. You don't know how the audience might react to it! So I think period movies are always out of style. There a few filmmakers who try to dare to make a period movie, sad but true!
