I cant watch movies in which people cant act which is why I cant watch movies which have Deepika, Katrina or Sonam in them. The only mainstream actresses like Anushka, PC, Kareena and even Ash (in dramatic roles only) are watchable. Rest are all painful to watch on screen.
Talent was never the deciding factor in determining the fame and fortune of Bollywood stars. If that were the case, Sanjeev Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah would be bigger stars than Big B or SRK, Shabana Azmi or Smita Patil would have been the box-office queens, selling movies on the power of their star-power. This lamentation for the ersion of talent is also not new. When Rekha and Hema Mailini came to BW, people used to pine away for the grace and style of Waheeda Rehman and Nutan. Amitabh was also ridiculed for not possessing the charm of Dev Anand or the histrionic power of Dilip Kumar.
Stars who are successful in Bollywood are not some freaks of nature who have won their place in the sun by virtue of the planets being aligned in a fortuitous position or something. These peope usually have some inexplicable connect with the audience who prefer to give their patronage to them instead of the thousands of other aspirants who are striving to find their foot-hold in this industry. The film industry is, like any other industry, a demand-and-supply industry. Producers cast only those whose market value seems a profitable proposition. If there is a down-slide of talent on screen, the audiences taste and preference needs to be re-examined. After all they are the ones who decides who becomes a star and who has a long shelf-life.
Exactly.. Zeenat Aman was the poster-child of bad acting when she was in Bollywood and look at the way she is remembered now for her contribution to the Hindi films.Originally posted by: bandicoot

in 20 years, sonam and katrina might be legendary actresses of indian cinema

i dont have much hope in them..phir bhi every actress who manages to last a few years become legends
Bt, that is exactly my point. No one is holding a gun to the audience's head to make them go and see someone's movie. People do that on their own volition. As long as people want to see their actresses only as glamorous show-pieces, Katrina-Deepika-Sonam will remain as the leading stars. the same is true for the popularity of Kardashians-Gossip Girl stars-Megahn Fox in the West. The day the audience demands something different from the actresses these stars will vanish into oblivion. But, right now, they are the choice of the majority and hence, they are ruling the BO.
