| The shooting of Zee show Mamta, came to a halt at 4 am last week, when lead actress Neha Mehta, who plays the title role, fainted on the sets at Bhatia Bungalow in Madh Island.
But because of the pressure of shooting the daily, Neha couldn't afford to take even a day off to recuperate. She had to report to work the next day.
Says a unitwalla who didn't want to be named, "Neha is required in practically every scene. This is taking a toll on her. It is not surprising that she collapsed. She was visibly shaken up after the incident."
Going giddy
Talking to HiTLIST, Neha reveals, "It began with me feeling giddy. The giddiness continued, and I blacked out."
The concerned cast and crewmembers splashed water on her to revive her, and sent for a doctor. Neha awoke just as the doctor made his call.
"It was hard to get a doctor to make a call at 4 am, but it was somehow managed. I took a break for half an hour or maybe a little more, before resuming shooting," she adds.
Since the past ten days, Mamta's unit has virtually lived on the set, "I go home for just an hour everyday to have a bath. That's it. There is no bank of episodes. We had a small bank, but the channel came up with some last-minute changes, so we lost it."
Emotionally drained
"Physical exertion was not the only reason, I blacked out. Emotional drainage was one more reason," Neha added, "There are lot of heavy-duty scenes in Mamta these days, which need me to shed tears and extract a gamut of emotions. The scene during which I fainted — I tell Akshay (Anand Suryavanshi) that I am the surrogate mother of his child — was one such."
Presently, Neha is trying to restore her energy back by the prescribed Glucon D, Electral and multi-vitamin tablets.
Her parents are immensely worried that she is back to her hectic schedule, without taking some time off to rejuvenate herself. "I can't help it, can I?" she asks, and adds putting up a brave front, "Part and parcel of every TV actor, I guess."
