Indian TV Series has been nominated at the Monte Carlo International Television Festival.

A thrilling TV series Indian produced by Russian World Studios (RWS) has been nominated as The Best Drama TV Series at the 51st International Television Festival in Monte Carlo.

The TV series has been also nominated in the following categories: Outstanding Producer of Drama TV Series (Yuri Sapronov, Andrei Smirnov), Outstanding Actor of Drama TV Series (Egor Beroev, Marat Basharov) and Outstanding Actress of Drama TV Series (Ekaterina Rednikova, Panchi Bora).

"Drama and comedy series nominated this year are of the highest quality and represent the diversity in its best of international production," commented David Tomatis, CEO of the Monte Carlo Television Festival.
11 comedies and 27 dramas from 21 countries have been selected for the competition. Of note, Indian is the only Russian production among the nominees.
Indian became the first Russian TV series filmed in Bollywood and the first Russian-Indian co-production for the past twenty years. The show was made in association with India Take One Productions that had worked on Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. Renowned Russian and Indian actors, including Marat Basharov, Egor Beroev, Igor Kostolevsky, Ekaterina Rednikova and Panchi Bora, starred in the series.

Indian premiered on Russia 1 Channel in October 2010. During its broadcast, the show always ranked at least second in the channel's TOP TEN. According to TNS Russia, the series received the share of 22.5% and rating of 7.7%.
In November 2010 during a visit to India, Russian World Studios' management concluded contracts with two leading Indian TV networks, Z?? Smile and Doordarshan, on broadcasting the series in India and 150 other countries of the channels' coverage area. The series was broadcast on both channels in December 2010 to mark the official visit of Dmitri Medvedev, Russia's president, to India. On December 22 the crew and cast presented Indian to the Russian president at Yash Raj Films Studios.

In December 2010, Indian was also broadcast on the largest state TV networks of Israel, Ukraine and Azerbaijan. According to the research figures, the show earned outstandingly high ratings.
Monte Carlo Television Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe and internationally, is presided over H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. Founded in 1961, the festival brings together the best media industry representatives from different countries every year. Productions popular all over the world compete for the festival awards, including its main award, the Golden Nymph.
RWS productions have already been the festival nominees. Zona (2006), Atlantis (2008), and Palm Sunday (2010) competed for awards in the Best TV Drama Series nomination.
The winners of the 51st Monte Carlo Television Festival will be announced during the Awards Ceremony to be held on June 10, 2011.

The 51st Monte-Carlo Television Festival 2011 is being held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco from 5th - 9th June. The actors and producers of the shows will be vying for the prestidgeous Golden Nypmph Awards for excellence. Stars expected to attend come from a wide range of Television shows including Brothers and Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Cold Case, Law & Order, NCIS, LOST, Gossip Girl, Heroes, The Mentalist, The OC, The Tudors and classics such as Knots Landing and Dallas plus many, many more.
