Another aspect of Koki's past was revealed today. Her grandfather had started out as a small vendor and built a business empire of his own. Koki respects that tradition of self-will, industry and hard work. That's precisely why she doesn't believe in shortcuts to success or being greedy or taking money for granted. I think it's an extremely positive and admirable trait in her character.

Many of us have often wondered why Koki made such a hullaballoo over Rashi's phone bills, or parlour visits or shopping, in spite of being such rich people. The issue was not about HOW much money was spent, the Modis sure could have afforded the sum. The point was Rashi's attitude--she never understood the value of money nor did she ever think it was hard earned money that came from the labor of the men of the family. Koki needs to teach her to respect the worth of money.

One of the worst qualities a wife and a homemaker could have is to think that her husband's money is there to plunder. Women sure should have the right to spend , but the spending should be a part of the family budget--it should be transparent and not sneaky, should be in sync with the spending of the other members of the family and most importantly, should not be extracted by pressurizing the husband when he can't afford it (unlike Rashi forcing Jigar for the ring).

No matter how much i hate the CVs, they sure are portraying some very important lessons for a happy family life.
