hi! i m gujju. i think Ba,bahu aur baby is more closer 2 gujju tradition. we lived in joint family, and i think tktg is also have that value.

I am a Gujju - and a proud one at that. I agree that Gujju families - in India or abroad - are much stricter than other families. KSKBT - is purely KEKTA Mai's dream. TKTG - is shown as a Jain family - Jains are strict but I can't believe a man living in 2005 thinks that women dont count - like Mansukhlal!!

My dad brought us up respecting women and letting us know that women are in no way inferior to men - infact, women are much stronger emotionally and much more intelligent. We are a family of two sisters and a brother. My dad's family is HUGE - we all dont live together, but any occassion we are together!!

i am agree with ekomas. I am gujju too but we don't live in joint family. I don't have a large family. I came from "hum do hamare do" family. I never seen my mom and grandma ever fought. These TV serials are crap. They are just for entertainment.. they don't follow any traditions. 😡 I think Ek Mahal Ho Sapno ka was the closest one to Gujju pariwar.

Well I am Gujju too...But we don't live in a joint family 'cause I am here in US & family is there in India...I mean Yeah If the couple has one son then most the time they live together....Or otherwise...they live nearby...

Although I am not a gujju, I have many friends who are. But TKTG portrays a Gujju-Jain Joint Family. Some Jains are very strict when it comes to their daughters and daughters-in-law.

In some parts of Madhya Pradesh, they still have the "Ghoongat" system in well-educated, affluent households.

This serial is not wholly untrue. My cousins live in Indore and I have friends there too. Although the son and daughter-in-law are equally educated, the daughters-in-law are expected to handle the kitchen, look after the kids, look after the house etc.
