Geet's apartment
-----------------------

Thud!! The noise made him turn around..

She was lying on the floor,unconscious!!

"Geet..", his voice choked in his throat as he scooped her up..

He laid her on the couch and gently sprinkled water on her face.

She slowly opened her eyes...Her face was deadly pale..her eyes,

vacant... The moment her gaze fell on him,she broke into bitter,

heart-wrenching sobs..

"Geet,baby...please..don't cry..." He pulled her into his lap and

lovingly caressed her back as she sobbed against his chest.

"Baby,I knew that you wouldn't be able to handle all this..that's

why,I refused to tell you the truth...but you were adamant, ab

dekho,kya haalat hui hai tumhari.."

"Mujhe yakeen hi nahi ho raha hai ki yeh sab kuch Dev ne

kiya...Maan...boliyena..Kya woh mujhe bhi maar dalega??"

"Nahi,Geet, aisa kuch bhi nahin hoga !! Main aisa kuch hone

bhi nahin doonga...Tum fikar mat karo..please..."

"Maan,I want to know the rest..."

"No ways!! you've heard enough..aur sunogi toh aur darr

jaogi...forget it Geet!!"

"Please Maan, aapko meri kasam!!"

"Tum meri koi bhi baat nahi maannewaali,haina??", He asked with

a resigned sigh.

Hugging him more tightly, she said, "Maan,chodiye na...main

bilkul theek hoon ab...haan.. yeh sach hai ki achanak yeh sab

kuch sunkar main thodi hil gayi thi...but I've made up my mind...I

need to know everything Maan...now please tell me...how did you

escape from there??"

Maan's story

(Part-5)

"I panicked!! My first coherent thought was to call the police,but I

found myself dialing Sunil's number instead! He picked up on the

second ring. On hearing my rushed "Hello" and hoarse voice, he

immediately deducted that something was seriously wrong. He

asked me to calm down and tell him everything in detail. After a

moment of silence, he said "Maan..Get out of there!! Let me deal

with this!!"

"No Sunil! I can't do that..there's no use in running away..I had

slipped on her blood..My finger prints are every where and so are

my foot prints!"

"Don't worry..Just stay calm !! I'll come right away with my team..

You take off your shoes..wipe your finger prints off the window

and wait for me outside.."

"Par Sunil,my foot prints.."

"Don't worry,I 'll take care of it !"

I did as instructed and waited out side,contemplating whether to

call up dad and Sri...I decided against it..dad would be worried

sick and Sri... with his volatile nature...I can't even imagine how

he'd react!! I decided to wait for Sunil before calling them!!

The screech of tires jolted me from my reverie!

"Maan ,get into the car!!", Sunil called out, gesturing to the

passenger seat next to him. I didn't quite understand the big idea

but decided to obey him.

"Maan, we'll pretend that you were with me,when this anonymous

call came on my cell informing about Tara's death.Theek hai??

We reached here together,went inside together..blah..blah...and

while looking around,you slipped on her blood and fell...that

should explain your foot prints..please keep this story in mind..

no contradictions or discrepancies...remember that!!"

I nodded my approval and waited for Sunil's team and the Police!!

The Police broke open the front door..As they looked around for

the body...I walked into the dining room before them . Quickly

putting my shoes on,I pretended to slip and fall..Sunil helped me

up ,reprimanding me loudly for my clumsiness!! By the time,the

lights were restored..we had successfully played out our charade..

I listened quietly as the detective in charge chided me for messing

up the evidence..I muttered a sheepish "sorry" and rushed off!!

It was going to be a long night..I was yet to deal with Dad and Sri..

As expected,Dad was furious and I got a lamba bhashan on my

stupidity..I patiently listened to his outburst and finally when he

calmed down,rushed out to get abused again...

Sri was livid with anger and lashed out at me..He called me all

sorts of names..but didn't seem quite satisfied with that!!

According to him,my walking into a trap like that could mean only

one thing...that my brains had gone for a toss and I was thinking

with my ass!! I couldn't stop chuckling at that..and for the first time

that evening, I relaxed...

Very few people had turned up for the funeral..I was not surprised

since I knew the reason. Tara had once mentioned that their 's

was a love marriage. His parents were against the relationship,

since she belonged to a different caste..but Rathod went ahead

and married her, because of which his family disowned him. She

herself was an only daughter and was staying with her old

parents after her husband's demise.

I went to her funeral accompanied by Sri.It was a torture to watch

a whimpering Sahil light his mother's pyre.

All of two,he didn't understand,what was happening around

him..The only thing,he knew was that his mumma was no where to

be seen and some stranger had forced him out of his Naani's

embrace and brought him here. The torch was too big for his tiny

hands and he kept fumbling..

I went near him and scooped him up in my arms. Carrying him,I

helped him light the pyre.I don't know,what made me do it..maybe

as Sri always said,I was an emotional fool,a guy who always

thought with his ass, rather than his brains..I didn't care at that

moment..I was quite aware of Sri's disapproving glances, but I

stood there silently watching the flames engulf the body of an

innocent young woman,who had died fighting for justice!!

While alive,all her efforts to make me believe her had failed...only

her death could convince me, I thought bitterly...

The little child in my arms reminded me of my failure..as an officer

and as a human being. Hugging his little body close to my heart, I

vowed to hunt down and bring his parent's murderer to justice!!

me first! me first!! yayayayayay!!
did i tell you i love this Geet?
she's innocent, cute and adorable and i missed her in previous parts as it was Maan's monologue but am glad she's here!!
They say innocence is a bliss..and it is true! We can be another RATAN TATA if we want but we can't be an INNOCENT KID. i'm telling you this coz u said u like Geet of my SS-Finishing School n u called your Geet dumb remember?
she'd not Dumb! She's naive and i love her ...😳
And then coming to the story, First Geet fainting and Maan scooping her up and caressing her was dreamy! You may feel am sick to call it dreamy in such a serious track but it is indeed dreamy! 😆
And the past was beautifully explained..always keeps me on edge..
Sunil is a master mind..love him for this..
i'm glad Budhu Maan didn't call up sri this time..
and am glad he is saved!

ANd the last part..the kid's plight was heart wrenching..
Maan carrying him and helping him was so adorable..
And Sri calls him emotional fool?
isn't this very emotional fool saved him going against all rules?
isn't this very emotional fool tried to rescue him, protect him, console him and be a support in each and every phase of his life?
well what should i say? the one we love the most will be the ones to hurt us! that's a bitter truth!
I liked Maan's words in the last paragraph..

her death could convince me, I thought bitterly... .
those are very powerful words..
am glad he made a decision finally!!

Wow...another emotional update...Geet was so affected hearing all this...but still she wante dto know the entire truth...Sunil really saved Maan from a big trap...that was a real good cover-up he thought of.. and then the funeral of Tara...it was so sad...Good that at least now Maan decided to bring her desired justice...waiting for more...

I really love the fact that Geet's persistently wanting Maan to divulge the truth ; she's strong in my opinion maybe physically weak n delicate but as all women emotionally way controlled 👏
