Teaser.
This is a kind of teaser to find out if I can find a few interested readers...there is this scene that kept flashing in my mind, yelling at me to put them to words!! So finally I gave in and wrote it down. Now I am calm...it is just a scene, I still don't have concrete story to go with it, may be just a few ideas here and there...i'll try to put forth a few characters around this scene in leisure. But for now, this is all I have!!
To say he was in a bad mood was saying it too mildly. He was furious! Who wudn't be driving in this weather! The heavy rain made it impossible to see beyond a few meters and he had been at it for some time, not able to cover as much distance as he wanted to because this was the kind of weather that caused serious accidents. But which fool would venture out in such a rain, unless you had some emergency...concern for his grandmother was eating him. She was hospitalised.
But he was going to kill his Daadi himself if this turned out to be another hoax! She had a unique medical case of getting palpitations or pressure variations or some other kind of ailment at times, mostly when his name was linked with one or the other of his co-stars. He wished this time too it was something like that, that she was putting on an act. His daadi was such a drama queen, there was no doubt from whom he had inherited his acting skill! First he had thought Daadi was up to her usual tricks...making the servant call him up in his private number because one of her friends had gossiped with her about the immense drawbacks of having an actress for a bahu! If his memory served him correctly it was Sameera who was presently his secret fiance. The news was making waves ever since they signed another movie together. He was taking a hermits retreat in Hoshiarpur to work on a script. As was his habit he visited the Golden temple before starting the script when the paparazzi struck gold by catching him with Sameera. The photos of them had made their appearance in the local daily a few days back. When the call came from his servant he assumed that the photos must have made their appearance in the Delhi papers too, where his Daadi was presently staying. He had called the doctor to confirm and was shocked to learn that she was being kept under observation. Since the bad weather had made flights impossible, here he was driving thru' this awful rain to reach Delhi!
In the sudden flash of lightning he saw her. She was standing on the railings of the bridge. He slowed down his car to a stop ...she had turned around to face the road as if taking a last look at the world around her.
"Hey!" he called, cursing as he got out into the pouring rain.
She was turning back to face the river.
"Hey, girl..." he called out louder this time, moving forward. She seemed to hear him just as another flash of lightning flashed across the sky, giving him a glimpse of her haunted eyes that looked too big on her pale face. But then the shock of seeing him or the lightning made her loose her balance and she started to fall back.
He ran forward his hands stretched out, his full concentration on her that he didn't notice the car that was too near to avoid hitting him. He took a flight and hit his head on the pavement, instantly aware of the breaking of different bones in his body. He heard the hurrying footsteps and someone calling out his name in awe, thru' the haze of red-hot pain.
"Save her! She fell off the bridge!" he blurted out, before succumbing to the darkness.
So how about it? Has the scene caught your attention too? Do you find this part interesting enough to be developed into a story?
