There are many people who know nothing more than saying "Indians copy many American shows" or whatever.

Yes, there are some movies that are copied, but people have to talk reasonably.

Some shows I want to talk about are Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. They are/were broadcast in India as Fear Factor India, Deal Ya No Deal, and Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Fear Factor and Deal or No Deal are owned by a company called Endemol (http://www.endemol.com). They are LICENSED to the TV channels so they can broadcast them, etc. Deal or No Deal is NOT American. It was broadcast in Europe well before it was broadcast on American TV.

Fear Factor India is licensed (not "copied!"). Read this article at Endemol's web site (http://www.endemol.com/Press%20center/default.aspx?fID=7153& amp;rID=1). The article also mentions that Fame Gurukul was a version of it's show Operacion Triunfo.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire is owned by Celador (http://www.celador.co.uk/) and Kaun Banega Crorepati wasn't a copy either!

I just wanted to talk about this as some people just don't get their facts right. There might be other shows (which are not copies!) that I don't know of as I don't get to watch Indian channels too much.

well. it is kind of copied. i mean the whole idea part and sort of the name. like Deal Ya No Deal, the American one is Deal Or No Deal. Who wants to be a crore pati, who wants to be a millionare(american). the whole idea of it is pretty much the same.
but sinces its liscened nobody in India can copy it. same for American one. its not a crime if India has a show with the same idea

No.

Its a company that sold it to American channels and sold it to Indian ones (and many other countries).

It's like you owning a store and selling TV to 2 people. Just because one of them buys it first doesn't mean the second one stole the first one's.😉

Therez a million McDonald's on earth. They're not copies. They're Franchises. Its kind of the same thing with these shows. They're not really copies. They're kind of like franchises of those original shows.

Anywayz, thanks for the info Sunny and welcome to the forum 😊

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if they are wrong. So you are entitled to yours. This is not a contest where we're seeing whoz winning with the argument of whether they are copies or not. One believes they are not and one believes they are, neither is right, neither is wrong.

Everyone has a different way of looking at things. Some look at it negatively, some look at it positively. 😊
