I thought I was the only one who got the vibes that it was based on Babita.
The interfering mother who meddles into her daughter's debut, gets into arguments with the director, etc.
Apparently when Zoya Akhtar was asked if it was based on Babita in an interview, she just smiled.
What do you think? Did you feel Dimple Kapadia's character in Luck by Chance was based on Babita? And what about the daugther's role, who falls in love with Farhan?
Kareena?

I don't think so. Babits is not all that famous to have a role based on her.

Sheee, Babita is quite INFAMOUS in the industry for her meddling ways and rubbing people the wrong way.
There are stories of her pushing Karisma into producers to get films. Of her sitting and reading scripts.
Salman once said that Karisma is very naive, and hte person who takes the most advantage fo her, is her own mother.
Babita is very fame hungry. She pushed karisma onto so many men.
She wanted abhishek coz he was a bachan, but when she saw his career wasnt going anywhere, she broke them up.

She even tried to push karisma onto Akshay khanna back in 1996/1997 when he was a debutante. That didnt work.
There's actually quite a list, lol. Long story short, she got Lolo married to Sanjay coz of his family and money. Look how that turned out...just like her own marriage.

Ok so a very trusted member from Kareena's forum explained it to me. I'm copying her post here. She used to be a huge Karisma fan.

"Babz pushing karishma onto the actors and big guns o f the industry is common knowledge. It was not like one journo or a gossip mag reporting it.This was said to be the biggest reason jaya's disapproval of karishma right from the beginning. Read through a lot of 90's mags and its almost written in every mag. Ajay DUMPED lolo for kajol. Ajay himself ( yes...his own interviews) spoke abt his relationship and what happened afterwards and the mess. I read his interviews and he openly thrashed lolo and his obsessive nature. Even after a year of his break up with her and he was seriously invloved with kajol , lolo went on begging him to take her back The managers through which she sent messages to ajay spoke on record abt this. I read it all very recently. And before ajay babita was hell bent on hooking lolo to jeh wadia, the heir of the wadia empire ( younger brother of ness wadia, preity's ex bf), Wadia who was intially attracted to her broke off with her very quickly and again Karishma herself spoke abt it many times.

Later around 1996-1997 when akshay khanna was to debut and he's being considered hot property and the future superstar babz tried so hard to throw lolo at him but it failed. Then her and lolo started circulating media articles and rumours abt something happening btw akshay and lolo in the press. This angered rishi kapoor so much that at that time he was to make an rk film with lolo throwed her out of it and there was a huge battle.

I am not telling you this by reading gossip in the old mags but the direct quotes and interviews of ajay, karishma, the producers and directors etc.

Babita was very very interfering abt everything karisma. True, she sat done for script narrations, costumes etc. All those extremely vulgar dance moves and those costumes in the early stage of lolo's career was all thanks to babz. Even farah khan ( choreographer) blasted babz in print saying which mother w'd do that for her child. Karisma was sure naive and innocent.

U have no clue what kind of a woman babita was/ is. Her own family disowned her and so did her husband's family. DO tell me the kapoors supported randhir bcoz he was his son. Even rishi and neetu's marriage went through huge ups and downs they all stood by neetu knowing rishi was in the wrong. Neetu never had a father as he died when she was a kid, no siblings, nothing. All she had was a mother and came from a poor background. Still they all stood by her ."

Add to that a father who had no interest whatsoever in his family, and was a complete and utter failure, financially, emotionally, and you can imagine the kinda upbringing these girls had.
While Lolo was the puppet, Kareena turned out to be a rebel, the opposite.
She came into the industry with a brash and cold vibe. Saw Karisma being run over pretty much her entire life, adn guess decided it was better to run over people instead lol.
I remember the Simi Garewal episode back in 2001, when she clearly said, yes, I'm arrogant, yes I have an ego, but its good. That's the only way to survive.

I dont know Untamed. I find it hard to believe that any mother would do this. Maybe in her mind, this is what's best for her daughts, but her priorities are all messed up.
Who knows...
Anyone else have any inside news/gossip on Babita?
