'You kill that girl... and not just kill her... kill her with a pain that will haunt her, even after her death' the gruff voice announced. 'Don't ' make ' me ' do ' this' Maan bellowed. 'I'll do whatever you want, don't make me hurt that girl... she's innocent, I swear to you!'
'I have to kill you' he announced. Tears formed inside his eyes and Geet looked at him in daze. How was she not surprised? Was it because she had always known the doomed outcome of the love that blossomed inside her heart for him?
Geet did not feel convinced. His eyes spoke another story, a different story. She knew that love wasn't a lie... one can't be that good at lying. Her heart went out to him, as she realized
'What are you saying?' he spat.
'You can't kill me, Maan...' Geet announced in certainty. 'I know you love me... even if this started out as a game; I know you loved me...'
'He has my family' Maan said, tears now trickling down his face. 'He has them, every one of them... I'm so sorry' his voice was merely louder than a whisper and he panted. 'I love you so much' he cried and Geet wished to break the chains that held her to the dusty wall and embrace him in her arms.
As Maan lowered his gun, he closed his eyes and drew in a long breath.
'Maan, what are you doing?' Geet asked; her eyes were wide with fear. Maan cried slowly as he fell on his knees. The gun dropped out of his hand and he let out a painful cry. Geet closed her eyes tight for she could not have witnessed the scene of remorse and immense pain that played in front of her eyes. 'Maan, Kill me already!'
'YOU THINK IT'S EASY?!' Maan shouted. He was raging and his eyes were red. 'Do you think I didn't love you all this while? How can you tell me to kill you?'
Geet remained speechless.
He picked up the gun that lay in front of him, his hands trembling with horror. He placed his fingers on the hard trigger and instead of Geet's, he pointed it on his heart. 'Maan ' Maan... no... No... What are you doing?!' Geet yelled, crying and trying to break the impossibly heavy chains that held her. But she couldn't have and he pulled the trigger.
Everything was gone.
He fell on the hard, rocky ground lifelessly.
'MAAN!' the painful cry of his lover was all he heard in the few last moments of his life. At least now, he would be able to rest peacefully... even if it was in his death.
'Open your eyes Maan, Maan, be alive!' Geet cried. The blood stain where he had shot himself was getting redder.
'What has happened here?!' the same voice of an old man echoed in the dangerously dark dungeon. Upon witnessing that his captive had died, he rushed forwards and unlocked the heavy bars. A few other guards rushed forward to settle Geet down and as soon as Geet broke free, she darted towards the body that lay a foot from her.
'Should we kill her too? She could report the police about us...' the other man standing beside the old one spoke but Geet couldn't have heard a thing.
'I don't think she'd be stable enough to ' this is worse than death for her...' the ruthless old man chortled deeply. 'Dispose of the body Nathaniel, and take the girl to an asylum or something... I think that's the place which is best suited for her at the moment... also, deliver the news of the lad's death to his family... oh wait! They are already dead!' he laughed wickedly. 'They all got what they deserved...'
