I loved the acting in this movie both Kriti and Dhanush were great. Special mention to Prakash Raj as well.

I liked that she didn’t marry or date him out of compulsion. The ending was dark. It was sweet she trusted him to look after her son but I found it illogical. Some scenes I liked ( mostly due to the acting) were when she passed her phd and the terrace scene and confrontation about her illness / bleeding.

Finished watching this movie. I have never seen such a weird movie in a long time. Wtf was that story! Everything was weird in the movie. Dhanush and Kriti made the movie watchable just for one time with their incredible performances otherwise the movie was crap.

Just finished watching the movie. Can I say that first time an actress also equally performed as well as Dhanush did, usually it's rare for his costars to match him in such plots, only actress so far matching Dhanush's acting prowess onscreen was Parvathy in Mariyaan. Kriti was really good, I felt like the casting was so perfect and the chemistry between Dhanush and Kriti was excellent. They did look like a couple who can never end up together yet so much in love with each other.

One of the best scenes in the entire movie was when Shankar puts everything on fire and Mukti actually hugs his toxic self and they can't let go. That scene justified why she spirals down to a whole episode of self destruction to a point of losing it. Mukti truly loved him, but was unaware of how much she loved him, and it's not even her fault that he had to go through the entire chaos, he would do that for any other girl who'd actually try to 'fix' him in the name of love.

However the scenes that broke me was the one when Mukti bends to beg his stay and Shankar realizes that she's bleeding and ohh the horror in his eyes, and the follow up promise was too brutal, probably she saw him as the only hope for her unborn child and why not, someone passing a UPSC exam just to win a girl can also nurture her child if given.

Appa's death was completely Shankar's fault, his lack of self control and running behind a lost cause, costed him a lifetime guilt.

The ending is twisted and yes either people will like it or hate it, and it's meant to be like that, not everyone can sit through sth so blatantly self destructive, and as Shankar says this generation probably won't understand it but this is how some people would perceive love in older times.

Usse kehna is the best song in the movie, the placement is too good, poetically this time Shankar and Mukti probably ended up with each other atleast as soulmates. Shankar literally committing a suicide to save the father of Mukti's child and men still think they'll split bills in 2026, I rest my case.

Lastly this movie is a better one than Saiyyara, and also ADHM, I feel Anand L Rai only delivers with Dhanush because the combo knows their target audience.

It's unfortunate that the competition will be between Kriti and Yami for best actress, how I want both to win, Kriti literally played a kabir Singh with a redemption track. Dhanush doesn't need awards but well, his performance is just brilliant.

Dhanush's and Kriti's performances were outstanding. They're the only reason one can sit through this otherwise dark and depressing movie.

Mukti's only mistake was she didn't tell Shankar she can't be with him as he is not her type. Instead she gave him false hopes by asking him to meet her father. The way Shankar's nature was, he took her father's words as a challenge and it was not just him but even his father and best friend who struggled alongwith him in his journey to clear the Prelims. That's the biggest reason he felt betrayed because he felt 3 people's struggles got wasted due to Mukti and her father.

One thing I noticed. By the time Shankar realized his love for his father was bigger than his love for Mukti it was too late. He lost his father but it was that same love that showed him the right path and instead of self-destruction and suicide he chose that path. If Mukti had not come back, he probably would have lived a longer life with more successful and satisfying career. His sacrifice made him more greater in a way that he realized the biological father has more right and duties towards the child than him so he would rather give up his life while destroying the enemy and saving the father's life.

Mukti on the other hand who was shown as a practical person in the beginning turned out to be weaker and far more emotional than Shankar. She went on the path of self-destruction due to her guilt of unintentionally destroying Shankar's life and the pain of losing him. Even her husband's love and her pregnancy also couldn't help her get out of that path.

The roles are written well, author backed, I think any actor will be happy to get these roles, the characters will be a non-ideal benchmarks for both millenials and genZ. I never doubted Dhanush, he excels in such love sick characters with a history of magnificent performances in 3, Raanjhana, Mariyaan, Kadal konden and ofcourese my favorite Atrangi re. However Kriti took me for a surprise, she was brilliant, so good that I really wished that Mukti would have found Shankar and lived happily.

Yes, and that is not a mistake I felt she knew she'll hurt him if said directly, deep down she loved him and did not want to break him, so only way was to put him for UPSC and make him back out. I felt her genuine mistake was not informing him after finding Jassi, she is right, nobody waits for 3 years, well knowing how Shankar was, she should have understood that for him it was bigger than her so called PhD thesis. Shankar feeling betrayed was not wrong, him losing it was also not wrong, but violence was not right either, it is an antithesis of Mukti's PhD, lol. Noway burning the house was right, however again beauty of the scene was Mukti not accusing him, instead calming him down, any girl who does not love the guy would have jailed him right away.

Shankar losing his father was the re-awakening and to an extent it helped him recover from Mukti, too bad that Appa did not deserve the humiliation, I was glad he left that city and she could not find him. But it made me sad that she screwed her own life, literally killed herself in his absence. This is the same proverb of 'He fell first and she fell harder'. If she wouldn't meet him in the soldier camp, he would have survived but she would have still died, but atleast now she died knowing that he still loved her enough and he knew that she loved him too. The movie could have a happy ending but i think the toxic undertone made it better to have that targedy. I agree, Shankar's sacrifice made him the bigger person, but the moment he saw her bleeding, I think that broke him and this time the recovery would have been too difficult. I wish I could modify the ending, Shankar did not deserve to see Mukti on death bed especially after she confessed her love.

Also not to mention, unlike Zoya in Raanjhana, Mukti was not evil, Zoya planned Kundan's death and for every horrible thing he did, it was her who started it.

Anand Rai-Dhanush triology brough the best performances from the leading actresses too, Sonam, Sara and Kriti, even though Kriti is actually consistently delivering, Sonam and Sara proves why acting is actually reacting.
