Part - 22
------------The Chase

With a heavy heart and teary eyes,she bade them goodbye....
They stood there waving till the car disappeared from their sight...

He had a premonition that something bad was going to happen
and was contemplating on visiting Pinky's house, when he got the
call!!!
"Maan sir, They just left for the airport.....I'm sorry sir, I tried my
level best to make her stay,but she was adamant.."
"I know Pinky...I was expecting this only....don't worry!!!!!
I won't let her leave me this time......I''m not going down without a
fight!!!!"
He sprinted out of his office ,got into his car and made a mad dash
to the airport!

Geet spotted Maan's car coming from behind.
She felt nervous and uneasy.....
She knew that this time he wouldn't let her go......
but she couldn't stay either....she knew that if she stayed,
she'll be pressurized into a relationship with him!!!
She was not ready for that.......No...not yet!!!!
In her eagerness to get away from Maan,she yelled at the driver to
speed up...
Shocked by her sudden outburst,the poor man pressed the gas
pedal down so hard that it almost touched the ground!
The car was now running at break- neck speed..
In his haste,the driver ran straight through a red light!!!
For a second ,he failed to notice the huge truck heading straight
towards them.
Geet screamed......

At the last moment,he steered the car to the left narrowly avoiding
a head on collision....but the truck slammed into the rear end of
the car!!!
The rear window shattered.
Geet threw herself over Tia to save her from the glass pieces...
The car lost control.....It hit the pavement..ran over....and smashed
into the barriers of the bridge!
The driver jumped out of the car.....
Geet closed her eyes and hugged Tia tight as the car left the
pavement ready to fall into the river below...

Geet opened her eyes not feeling the impact of the car hitting the water.....
why was the car not moving???
They were still in the car.......
She realized that the car had not fallen off even though the front
wheels were off the bridge......
The back wheels were held back by pieces of the broken barrier....
Geet sat still..... hugging Tia tightly!!!!
A crowd had gathered,but they stood helpless,fearing that one
wrong move might hurl the car down into the river.
Tia looked around.....
The child sensed the tension in her mother and started
whimpering with fear...
Geet held her tight ...comforting her,murmuring soothing
words of assurance into her ears......
The mother and child sat awaiting their fate........

Maan stopped his car and got out...
A part of him wanted to continue pursuing Geet,
but he couldn't bring himself to drive away after witnessing the
accident.....
The crowd parted and he got a better view.
His heart hammered in his throat when he saw the passengers in
the doomed car!!
"Mishtiii....Tiaa....",he cried out in utmost despair.
