I STILL LOVE BEING CALLED KKUSUM Says Nausheen Ali Sardar in a tte--tte with AT Shruti Jambhekar She had won millions of hearts as a girl-next-door in the much acclaimed daily Kkusum. The beautiful Nausheen Ali Sardar is back in the small screen in the soap Beendh Banunga Ghodi Chaddhunga, albeit as a mother where she plays Santosh.Nausheen was in Ahmedabad to promote the soap.We asked her about her role in the show and she says,I play the role of Santosh who is a very traditional woman. She is a caring mother and believes in education for a girl child but, doesnt support the idea of working women. It is not a negative character but,her worry is towards familys wellbeing. So,why did Nausheen choose to play mom As an actor,it is important to do different characters and thats what made this role appealing for me.And now with my appearance and the way narrowing down of characters is done in TV soaps,I would fit into the role of mother or a bhabhi in the serial. What is important to me is acting. And I have to be practical, says Nausheen.Making a comeback on television, does Nausheen find changes in Indian television in trends and programmes The television industry has been constantly changing. In my childhood, there used to be weekly serials, later on the trend of daily soaps started. After that the concept of weekly serials almost vanished and we saw reality shows. There will be changes in the television industry.Thats expected, says Nausheen. So how was her experience of working in her debut movie,ThreeLove,Lies and Betrayal It was an amazing experience. It was a wellshot film, though it didnt work at the BO,it gave me creative satisfaction.I could do few stunts in the filmand thats the most memorable memory for me in my debut film. Says Nausheen and adds on,Im working on one more film Bangkok Blues with Irrfan Khan and Deepal Shaw.I will keep on juggling between TV and films now on. And for all you guys who dont know,Nausheen has done four plays post quitting Kkusum. She feels,Every actor loves doing theatre. It teaches you a lot. And Nausheen spills the beans on deep Gujarati connection too,as she says,Rupa Diwetia, who played my mother-in-law in Kkusum, has almost adopted me.Because of her,I feel very close to Gujarati culture, food, festivalseverything.I almost understand Gujarati thoroughly and Ahmedabad is her hometown,so I feel awesome to be in her hometown! Nausheen simply loves bhakhri, lasan ni chatni and Gujarati dal.In her leisure time,Nausheen enjoys, pencil sketching, going out to work out or practice kick-boxing,when I see my dogs,I get complete peace of mind. And Im learning Indian classical music too. Nostalgia strikes Nausheen when fans still remember her as Kkusum,I still love being addressed as Kkusumas it was a soap that gave me a stable career and that was the role where I didnt have to put any efforts to act,I was myself!
