Tej: Tough to be angry all the time |
Tej, aka Prashant Chawla, is maha excited about his new role in Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi on STAR One. |
The talented actor, who is thrilled to be playing distinct roles in Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi and STAR Plus' Pyaar Mein Twist, shares his feelings about attempting two different genres, and also reveals about why it is tough to play Tej. Did you always aspire to be an actor? I got in modeling after completing my schooling, and that's when I thought of getting into acting. Although I wanted to enter the industry, I was not confident about my acting skills. However, now it feels good that everything has worked out so well. I have also become confident after experimenting with various genres. How did you get selected for the role of Tej in Geet? I was already doing Pyaar Mein Twist on STAR Plus before I was offered Geet, so the channel already had my audition tapes. They felt that I would suit the role of Tej, and there was no looking back from there. What was your first reaction when you heard the role? I was very excited because I wanted to do an intense role, and this was my chance. Most shows revolve around the female lead ,but Tej is such a strong character, and it really feels great to play this role. How similar to or different from Tej are you in real life? I am completely different from Tej in real life. Tej is hot-headed and angry all the time. People who know me will vouch that I am happy-go-lucky, love to smile a lot and just be happy. After Beeji, Tej is the one who orders everyone around in the house, but I am not that kind of a person. How do you manage two shows - Pyaar Mein Twist as well as Geet - at the same time? I love both the characters, and enjoy playing them. As for time management, that has never been a problem. Do you enjoy serious or comic roles? It is very difficult for me to choose between these two genres. I took up Pyaar Mein Twist as I had never done comedy before. As for Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi, I had, again, never done such an intense role. So, I have attempted both genres for the first time, and cannot compare them. I love doing Pyaar Mein Twist because it's so much fun, and everyone has a blast on and off the sets. As for Geet- Hui Sabse Parayi, everyone is like family. Which has been your toughest role till date? If I really have to choose, it would be Tej. Every youngster dreams of being an angry young man, but I have got the opportunity to live my dream (laughs). It is really tough to be angry all the time, especially when I am not like that at all in real life. However, I have accepted the role as a challenge, and am enjoying playing it. |
