Akki to get 23 cr for OUATIM sequel

Despite a disastrous run at the box office courstesy duds like Chandni Chowk to China, Khatta Meetha, Tees Maar Khan, Patiala House and the tepid opening of the April 8 release Thank You, Akshay Kumar will still reportedly be paid 23 cr for the sequel of Milan Luthria's Once Upon a Time in Mumbai that is to go floors in December this year.

Akki is the highest paid Bollywood superstar. Salman Khan who is molten lava after Dabangg, the second highest B-town grosser of all time, is allegedly getting 21 crores for Atul Agnihotri's Bodyguard plus a share in the profits.

The other two Khans-Aamir and Shah Rukh have no fee earmarked against their names. But they have a stake in the profits as equal to that of the producer.

For e.g. Aamir is said to have taken home approximately 55 cr for 3-Idiots until now, while SRK who produced his last major release My Name is Khan with Karan Johar is also said to have pocketed a tidy sum. In the case of RA.One SRK will make a profit of at least 50 cr because he is the producer.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirms, ''Prices in Bollywood are good for the A-listers because it is a star who ultimately brings in an initial.''
As theatres multiply and more revenue streams open up, star prices also increase says Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO UTV Motion Pictures.
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty now a formidable team after Golmaal-3 are likely to get 18 cr from Aasthavinayak Motion Pictures for Bol Bachchan going on floors this August.

Ajay says, ''Actually Rohit and I are co-producing the film with Aasthavinayak, so it is hard to mark out a price.'' But the grapevine insists it is around 18 cr.

Saif is reportedly getting something between 11-13 crores for Prakash Jha's Aarakshan that is coming on August 12 and Shahid Kapoor is being paid around 9 cr for an upcoming film.

While Imran Khan is in the 7 cr price range for Mere Brother ki Dulhan and Short Term Shaadi; Ranbir Kapoor is getting paid twice that amount because he is a bigger star and more versatile.

Another reason why star prices remain high is because of the boom in satellite prices.

It is said that even the recently released small starcast film F.A.L.T.U. is likely to get 9 cr from satellite rights alone.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the highest paid heroine. She got around 6 cr for the bi-lingual Robot says the grapevine.

Kareena Kapoor with 4 crores for Agent Vinod and Bodyguard is the current Bollywood diva.

And the princess of popcorn Katrina Kaif has reportedly gotten Yashraj to bend their rules and pay her a handsome 3 cr for the July 22 release Mere Brother ki Dulhan.

Honestly none of them deserve all that money. It's not like they are fighting for the country or something. Not even the cricketers who won us the world cup get this much. Dhoni I think got around 2-3 crores. That's fine.
But seriously 23 crores? Sheesh that's a hell lot of money. And I am disappointed. 👎🏼

Oh please people, we are the ones paying them. We are the ones who run into theaters and watch their movies again and again!

Nope, the producers pay them. The money we spend, goes into the pockets of the producers. Oh well, it's my opinion. They don't need all that money. I mean I saw on Zoom that the Bachchans pay 37cr TAX. Imagine how much they earn? 🤔
I mean all this money could be used for improving the economy. Like SERIOUSLY.
