Part 24
Couple of weeks passed. Maan behaved indifferent towards Geet all the time or more precisely he attempted his best to show his indifference… he desperately intended to prove her and more than her to himself that she was inconspicuous. But everyday he faced a little defeat. For as much as he behaved indifferently, he would be acutely aware of her presence in the hotel. He stole glances at her when no one was looking. He would pass by Sasha's cabin and linger around the door a little longer to just get a glimpse of her but never admitting it even to himself. However, when she would be around, he would ignore her. He was outright rude to her.
Geet endured the torture silently. She knew being vocal was not something that would click with him. It would just infuriate him and invoke his worst behavior. Adi was anyways upset by what had happened in the conference room initially but had later calmed on her insistence. Vicky was getting more annoyed by his Veerji's recluse behavior. The sudden change was not settling too well with him. On the other hand he would have been blind if he didn't notice that Geet was becoming aloof day by day. What had induced that change was something he couldn't fathom. Anyways his Veerji hardly left him anytime to ponder; he was on his toes most of the time.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"Anu, honey I said I'm sorry!" Arjun said trying to cajole Anu, who had her back towards him. He went ahead and hugged her from behind nuzzling in her hair. "Please Arjun. You always do that! At times I feel I know you and at other times it seems that I'm talking to a stranger. I fail to understand you" Anu said distantly. "It's not like that Anu… I was just a little upset. Baby, we are going to get engaged soon… we have our own life and your constant charade about Geet left me isolated" he explained her turning her in his arms. "Hmm…" she said as he slipped his behind her and pulled her close. "You know that I love you, right?" he asked grazing her cheek with the tip of his nose. She smile finally and coming into his arms said, "I love you too" . He hugged her back and smirked. Standing by the door, Naintara smiled at the sight.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

"Hey Geet" Vicky called out to her as she walked past him all lost. But she didn't stop... neither did she look at him. She had not registered his calling. He frowned and going upto her tapped lightly on her shoulder. "Kya hua? Kahan ja rahi ho?" he asked her. She looked around and realized instead of walking towards her cabin she was headed towards the pool area. "Nahi bas… (attempting to smile) just thought to get some air" she said making up an excuse. "You sure?" he asked looking at her uncertainly. "Yeah" she said. He sighed. All his efforts to get her to open up were going down the drains. He didn't know why but she had crawled back into her shell withdrawing herself and sinking in deeper than before. He held her hand, "chalo mere saath" and started dragging her. "Vicky, please I have some work" He looked at her incredibly. "Yeah right! Near the pool… are you guys planning some underwater project?" he asked sarcastically. She smiled and shook her head. Talking her to the coffee shop, he made her sit and waited for her to speak. When she didn't he started, "Geet, we are friends right?" She looked at him and remembered what Maan had other day mentioned about her befriending Vicky. It was since that day that she had decided to maintain her distance from Vicky too. She would excuse herself when he came… turned down his offer of giving her a ride back home... refused to share coffee with him… "Geet" he called for her attention. She looked at him, smiled slightly and nodded. He closed his eyes. "Is there something wrong? Is there something bothering you?" he asked genuinely. She shook her head in negative. He shut his eyes. "Don't lie Geet. It's too apparent… have I ever said or done something that have offended you?" he asked earnestly though he didn't remember saying or doing anything that may have remotely been the cause.

"Nahi Vicky. I'm fine" she tried to assure him. "Geet…" he started to say but a steely voice cut him in between. "Vicky!" She closed her eyes and clutched the dupatta tightly in her hands. He walked upto them as Vicky rose from his chair and slowly she lifted herself from the chair too. "Now do we pay our employees to chill and relax themselves in the coffee house?" he asked impolitely. Gaping at his tone, Vicky jumped in to her defense. "You are mistaken Veerji. Geet ko main yahan laaya tha". Maan smirked and remarked with an edge "Why, Ofcourse… some people are really good with their people's skill… how could she deny right?" (he turned to Vicky) and you? Weren't you supposed to be at the lawyer office?" Baffled by Maan's behavior, Vicky replied, "Bas ja raha hoon". He glanced at Geet apologetically, who had her eyes tightly shut. "Get to work" Maan told her curtly and left without giving her a glance. As Vicky turned to leave, he didn't miss the single tear that dropped from her eyes when she opened her eyes and kept looking at Maan's retreating back. If he had any doubts earlier, he was sure now. Something was definitely a miss!

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Maan ran a frustrated hand through his hair when he entered his cabin. Why did she still invoke such extreme emotions in him that forced him to react the way he did! He told her he isn't affected but truth was far from it. He was going towards the accounts section when he spotted her in the coffee shop with Vicky. It had been two weeks he was here and she carried her tasks around him without even sparing him a look. Apparently she was least bothered and least affected. She was married. But could she forget all that they had shared? Was it that easy for her to forget him? Was he so undeserving of her, that she didn't even bother to even let him know before walking out on him? Throwing his jacket aside he threw himself in his chair and leaned back on it. He fought but a thin film of tears blurred his vision.

After sometime, shutting his laptop, he made his way towards the exit. It was too overbearing to stay here right now for him. So he briskly walked to the gates. However, he stopped when he was just about to step out and looked behind. But saw nothing and left.

Fresh tears streamed down her cheeks as she saw him leave.

Maan drove aimlessly through the Mumbai roads. Memories flocked him… teased him… mocked him… hurt him! Finally he pulled his car near an isolated beach. The FM station played in his car. A habit she had got him used to, for she loved music. The song that played pushed him deep down the memory lane and he let himself be swayed by it. He wouldn't show his raw emotions to her but that didn't mean he couldn't live the moments that had taught him to live.

The song played…
Kahin toh, kahin toh, hogi woh
Duniya jahaan tu mere saath hai

(He remembered their first meeting. When he had placed a hand on her mouth to stop her from yelling in the dark corridors of Khurana Estate)

Jahaan main, jahaan tu
Aur jahaan bas tere mere jazbaat hain

(He remembered when he would sneak behind her to hold her from behind... When she would lean onto his chest enjoying the sunset on the cliff)

Hoti jahaan subah teri, palkon ki kiranon mein
Lori jahaan chaand ki, sune teri baahon mein

(He remembered when during their first date she had fallen asleep in the cottage while he stole all the time to look at her face… mesmerized by the sleeping beauty who had managed to captivate his heart effortlessly)

Jaane na kahaan woh duniya hai
Jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
Jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
Itni khafaa nahin
(He remembered, the time when she would run away from him before the confession… he remembered her marriage and closed his eyes)
Jaane na kahaan woh duniya hai
Jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
Jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
Itni khafaa nahin

(Holding his picture, she was sitting by the window sill looking over to the reflection of the moon in the sea as tears flowed from her eyes… she turned to see him in the room, smiling at her. She ran upto him but he vanished as she kept looking around and then hugged his picture close to her heart)
Saansein kho gayi hain kiski aanhon mein
Main kho gayi hoon jaane kiski baahon mein
Manzilon se rahein dhundhti chali
Aur kho gayi hai manzil kahin raahon mein

(He felt her soft lips on his eyes and her hand on his cheek. He opened his eyes to look at her smiling at him and then she came closer to give a small peck on his lips before snuggling close to him and to hide herself in his chest shyly… When he didn't hug back, she looked up again, asking through her gesture whats wrong. He smiled and raised his hands to pull her close but just then she vanished. His arms unfilled!)

Kahin toh, kahin toh, hai nasha
Teri meri har mulaqat mein
Hothon se, hothon ko
Chumte rehte hai hum har baat pe
Kehti hain fizaa jahaan
Meri zameen aasmaan
Jahaan hai tu, meri hansi
Meri khushi, meri jaaan

(He remembered kissing her injured feet, when she had an intruder in her room. He remembered her laugh and how she reluctantly came into his lap to tease him and uplift his mood… he remembered their first kiss)

Jaane na kahaan woh duniya hai
Jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
Jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
Itni khafaa nahin

(She remembered him pushing her away… glaring at her and saying venom-laced words. She remembered him away from her. He remembered seeing her at the hotel, looking everywhere else but him. He remembered her walking out of the gates with Pinky… He remembered her sitting in coffee shop with Vicky… he remembered her making the presentation.)

Jaane na kahaan woh duniya hai
Jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
Jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
Itni khafaa nahin

(opening his arms to the sky... with a desire to hold her just once, he closed his eyes)
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
At night Geet was sitting on her bed, reading one of her management books, when her phone buzzed. She looked at it and got up to lock the door. Then coming back she quickly received the call. "Hello… (pause) Ji... I'm fine (pause) You are in Mumbai (pause)kal?... (pause) theek hai… I'll see you for lunch tomorrow" She then disconnected the call. Amidst her grief there was a strange fire in her eyes.

Ever since, she had started to settle down in Mumbai… Pammi, Adi and Pinky's love were trying to ease her pain… as she was slowly coming to terms with her life; she had neither forgotten nor forgiven those criminals who robbed her of her parent's love. The more she hurt thinking of her parents and remembering those dreadful days, the more her anger towards those forsaken relatives of hers swelled. She had managed to escape in her quest to protect herself… but was she supposed to keep running from those crooks for the rest of her life? It was because of them that she lost every reason to live… she lost her loved ones… they killed her parents… should she let them go? No! She won't! She couldn't! Her offenders needed to be punished. She was going to avenge her parent's death and she was determined for this. This was the only cause of her life now and she was going to make sure, they meet their fair end. She had been thinking about it for a while now. Though she was there for nearly a month, she hardly knew anyone and the possibilities of falling back on their mercy were high. She couldn't risk that. She knew she needed help and only someone who was there at that time and knew what transpired could help her.

And there was one such person, who knew… one such person who had helped her before… Gurvinder, Channi's husband! Channi and Gurvinder had helped her when she had escaped the night of her wedding. The couple had supported her and had directed her. After coming to Mumbai, one fine day she was looking for something in her wardrobe when Gurvinder's contact details, that he had handed to her on her departure, fell to the ground. Hesitantly, she called him to express her gratitude and when she mentioned about getting the culprits punished, Gurvinder was approving, forthcoming and offered to help. As fate would have it, Channi and Gurvinder were soon shifting base to Mumbai and Gurvinder had promised her that he would call her once he reached Mumbai. As days passed, so did Geet's hopes… may be he was giving her false hopes, she had thought but then he called up today. She shut her eyes and prayed, "Babaji, Itna toh main kar sakti hoon na apne Ma-Bauji ke liye… please meri madat karna"

As she prayed, she couldn't help but fell into the abyss of her dark past.

Flashback

Clad in a white suit, with duppata placed over her head, she sat in a corner, as she draped her arms around her knees looking at her parents' photographs. Four days had passed since her parents' death and she was barred from participating in any offering or service that was being offered in the memory of her parents. She was told that she had no rights to participate in the offerings since she wasn't Rano and Mohinder's daughter by birth. As if the tragedy of her parents' death was not enough, Brij had spat the truth about her adoptive status right over Rano and Mohinder's dead bodies. She was shocked to see Brij and scared too. Her Bauji had promised to protect her but now he was gone. She slowly learnt, Brij was supposedly her cousin. Daar ji, who she had got to knew to be Mohinder's father out rightly, blamed her, screaming around in public that she was responsible for his son's death.

She was shocked. His son? Wasn't Mohinder her father as well? But that was never considered. Suri, her father's elder brother however tried to console her but she was beyond consolation. Rupinder, Suri's wife and Brij's mother cared but stayed aloof most of the times. Rajji, Brij's sister and Preeto, his wife felt sorry for her but didn't dare walk upto her for they didn't want to call upon Brij's wrath. So she was left alone to cry and mourn the death of the most beloved people of her life. She didn't quite understand what was happening around her? She wished Rano will soon wake her from this nightmare. But it didn't happen. How could they not be her parents? They had never mentioned anything about her adoptive status… Mohinder had stressed that he didn't have a family back at Hoshiarpur more than once, so who were these people? Why wasn't she being allowed to take part in these rituals? She just didn't understand anything. Her mind was clogged with grief and the fact that she had no one around her who could simply let her vent out her grief or assure her only made the situation grave. She was in an alien land among strangers. She had meekly tried to protest and even beg to let her pay her tribute to her parents but Brij had pushed her away. Pushed her so had that she had fell on the ground and she had no strength in her to fight him back. So she slid against the wall and watched as the rituals were being performed. She saw as people came in to pay tribute to Daarji… some threw pitiful glances at her while some eyes were hostile… but most of them simply chose to ignore her.

She wanted him beside her… she wanted Maan beside her… she wanted to lose herself in his arms and cry. But that was not to be. He was unaware of what was happening back home. No one took notice when she picked up herself and slipped into the dark room that was allotted to her. Beautiful sunflower fields stretched to a vast expanse overlooking the backyard of the Handa Haveli but its splendor was lost to her. In a single instance these people had robbed her of her identity and her belongingness. She didn't know why her parents didn't tell her but it didn't matter much. They were her parents; people can say whatever they wanted to… her heart knew better than to doubt their love for her. She remembered Rano once saying that no matter what relationships and family you are born into, what matters is the relationship and family bonding you develop with people around you irrespective of your birth ties. She now understood her mother's underlying message… she was right… for her Rano and Mohinder were her parents and no one else. So for their sake, she decided to stay in the Handa Haveli till the end of the mourning period.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Maan was all set to leave New York. His heart thumped in his chest for something warned him that all was not well with Geet. 4 days! 4 days and she had not spoken to him. Most of the time, her phone was not in network reach and even when it buzzed, she wouldn't answer. No one answered her landline. This was so unlike her! She always picked his calls in the first few rings. His messages had gone unanswered. Something was wrong! Terribly wrong!

Watching him pack, his lawyers warned him about the repercussions of his actions. Khurana Group's reputation was at stake and the losses could be huge. But Maan was not to be deterred. His thoughts were focused on Geet. In the midst of this one of the associate called Gupta ji and he inturn let Savitri Devi know about Maan's plans of returning. Perplexed, she decided to have a dialogue with Maan. "Maan, hum nahi chahte ki aap koi bhi decision aise le… Hasty decisions are not always the best course Beta" She said trying to reason with him. "Dadi Ma, I know… Magar, mujhe Geet ki fikar ho rahi hai… Anu is also not there" Maan ran a frustrated hand in his hair. "Hum samajh te hain Beta… but trust me… hum hain na yahan… hum pata lagane koshish karte hain." Savitri Devi said to assure Maan. "Lekin dadi Ma…" Maan tried to argue. "Lekin kuch nahi… hum aapse wada karte ki hum poori koshish karenge. Maan this is not just about you and Geet but everyone who is associated with this project. Lot of people have put their faith in you and you can't just let them down." When Maan didn't speak Savitri devi sighed and added, "Please Maan, it's the about the reputation that I and your father have built over the years" Torn between his love for Geet and his responsibilities towards his family and Khurana Group, he could argue no more. "Theek hai Dadi Ma. But if I don't listen from Geet by tomorrow, I'll come back" he said with finality. Not having an option, Savitri Devi agreed. He knew this was going to be a long wait!

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Arjun came over to meet Dadi ma and watching her tensed enquired if everything was alright. Savitri Devi let him on the situation. Arjun shook his head, "I really don't believe this… who could believe that Maan would be ready to give up everything for a girl! He really loves Geet" Dadi Ma smiled a little, "She's not just any girl Arjun, she's Geet, the girl who seamlessly taught Maan to love. Aap humari madat karenge? I had sent a driver to her place but it seems that the house was locked. Fikar toh humme bhi ho rahi hai" she said tensely. "Don't worry Dadi Ma… let me check" he said making her sit on the couch in her room and handed her a glass of water. As he was about to step out, Naintara, who had elongated her trip entered her room. Arjun asked her to take care of Dadi Ma.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The sun has set, but she still sat near the window listlessly. She could see no purpose or perception to anything right now. Her cell that was lying on the bedside table kept buzzing but she paid no heed. She was so lost that she didn't even hear the ringtone, not until Suri came in and tapped her on her shoulder to pull her out of her reverie. Softly he wiped her tears and asked her to be strong and gestured towards her phone. She silently nodded in acknowledgement. But before she could check, the phone got disconnected. Moments later the cell buzzed again. Pulling herself on her feet she went and sat over the bed to see an unknown number flashing over her phone. Nevertheless, she took the call. "Hello… is it Geet?" she heard. "Kaun bol raha hai?' she managed meekly. "Hi Geet, this is Arjun" She heard him say. However she didn't register any emotion, not even surprise at the call for he was calling her for the first time. She felt too drained out both emotionally and physically. "ji" she uttered mechanically. "Geet… thank God you answered the call… Maan, Dadi Ma and Anu are so worried for you. I hope you are fine." Geet swallowed the lump as she realized in these 4 days she hadn't spoken to him even once. She shut her eyes as she told Arjun about her parents. "Good Lord! I'm so sorry to hear that Geet!" he said remorsefully. Though she knew, the condolence was just a formality, she couldn't help but cry. In four days this was the first time when someone had felt sorry for her!

When Arjun mentioned again that Maan was worrying about her, Geet decided that she would call him immediately and tell him. She wanted him beside her and she knew he would come to her. But then Arjun spoke again, "Geet… I know I may sound a little impolite and indiscreet but can you not tell him anything until he comes back?" he asked carefully. Geet choked. Not tell him! But how could she not tell him this… something of this magnitude. "Ji?" she said hurt. "See Geet don't get me wrong. Maan was already ready with his backs to fly back home. Bohut mushkil se Dadi Ma ne usse ek din ke liye rukne ko kaha hai. Now if you tell him, he won't listen to anyone." He told her. "Arjun, you know what you are saying?" she asked offended. "See Geet, you know the project is in final stages, if now Maan comes back then consequences wouldn't be appealing. He would be neck deep in legal and financial troubles. And if you let him on the truth, there would be no stopping him" he said sympathetically. "Lekin main…" she couldn't get herself to complete. "I know it would be difficult Geet. But I'm sure you don't want to see Maan in any kind of trouble" he further stressed his case. Even before she could put her argument, she knew she had lost. She was scared, disillusioned and vulnerable and the last thing she wished was Maan falling in some kind of trouble that too because of her.

"Geet, I'm really sorry, is there anything I can do for you?" he asked. But she couldn't reply and then he spoke again, "Dadi Ma aa rahi hai… I would suggest that you don't say anything to her and Anu as well. You know they won't be able to keep it from him." he said almost pleading. Geet found herself in a fix now. Suddenly, the comfort she was seeking was snatched away from her. The pain was numbing and she had no one to vent her grief out to. She found herself incapable to think and process. She spoke to Dadi Ma who chided her for this reckless behavior. Hastily, scared of giving away her emotions, she made an excuse of a sick relative and disconnected the call.

Her mind and thoughts were blank. Within few moments her cell buzzed again. It was Maan. She clutched the phone tightly and muffled a sob before receiving the call. "Geet!" his voice was urgent and she pressed the phone tight to her ears. That was all the comfort she could get. "Maan…" she whispered but fell quiet as she muffled a sob. Maan breathed a sigh of relief. "Geet where are you? Do you know how tensed I have been? Dadi Ma ka phone aaya tha, she told me that you are visiting some ailing relative. Why didn't you call me?" he finished. Gulping down the lump in her throat, she told him, "Maan main theek hoon. It was so sudden that I couldn't inform you. Aur yahan network bhi nahi milta" she managed with a great difficulty. "Tum ro rahi ho?" he instantly asked alarmed. Tightly placing a hand on her mouth she muffled a yet another sob, before continuing. "Nahi toh. I told you it's the network". "How is your uncle?" he asked. She felt helpless. "Didn't survive" was all she could say. "Oh! Geet, don't worry, I'll be there in no time" he said realizing that was the reason behind her melancholy. "Nahi Maan. Aap project beech main chod ke nahi aayenge. I'm fine. Aur kal toh hum delhi wapis ja rahe hain" she lied to him for she knew there was no way she could cajole him otherwise. "You sure?" he asked unconvinced. "Please Maan" she pleaded. He tried to argue but she wouldn't have it. Finally, like always, she won. "Fine. Take care. And just tell me if you need anything. Pass my condolences to Uncle and Aunty too" said that, he disconnected the call and she fell back, burying her face in the pillows, she cried herself to sleep.

Silently, all by herself, in the dark corners of Handa Haveli, Geet continued to mourn her parent's death. The regular taunting and the threatening glares were consuming her. The brief conversations she had occasionally with Maan who would assure her that he was speeding his work to come back soon were her only support. He would ask about his exams and she would lie, counting backwards the days for his impending return. In his embrace she would let her pain and grief to flow. She would cry when he would hold her. Days went by.

Finally, a fortnight later the mourning period ended and she decided to leave. Maan was scheduled to be back in next two days and Geet was so looking forward towards it. But fate had something else planned. She didn't know that another rude shock was just waiting to spring up to bring down the remnants of her once perfect life.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Every activity in the huge verandah of the Haveli, came to a standstill as soon as she came into view carrying her small bag in her hand. Ignoring everyone she walked over to Suri and thanking him, informed him that she was leaving. Blessing her, he placed a hand on her head as he looked at her with teary eyes. She gave him a small smile and walked towards the door when the dreaded voice roared, "Kahan ja rahi hai?" she turned to see Brij across the verandah standing in the doorway. "Apne ghar" she replied and then continued to move ahead. But Brij was fast, within a flash of second he had pushed her away from the door as he declared, "Kahin nahi ja rahi tu… (Turning to his mother) Beeji, start making preparations, shaadi hai iski agle hafte"

Shocked beyond herself, Geet didn't know how to react. With wide-eyes she gaped at Brij. "Shaadi?" she aped the word in horror. She felt the chill running down her spine as dread started to seep inside. Brij turned to her with a smirk, "Haan. Shaadi…" Suri, Rupinder, Preeto and Rajji were all shocked. "Tera dimag toh theek hai?" Suri's voice intercepted.

"Galat kya keh raha hai woh?" Daarji entered the verandah grimly, occupying his usual seat. "Daarji… Geet ki shaadi yahan? Apni zindagi hai uski delhi main. Besides how can we decide for her" Suri reasoned with his father. "Whether we like it or not, she has the name, Handa attached to her identity. And I'm not risking my family honour for this girl. Isiliye main Brij ki baat se sehmat hoon. Sooner we get rid of this girl, the better." He finished. "NO!" Geet yelled. "There is no way I'm getting married to just anyone! I'm going back home!" she picked her bag and briskly started walking to the door. The sudden turn of events had caught her unguarded.

"Ahhh!" She yelped in pain as Brij hurled her to the floor. "Daar ji… chacha chachi, forgot to teach her lady-like manners. (walking to her, threateningly towering over her, he glared) chup chap ja apne kamre main varna…" He was about to slap her hard when Rupinder, his mother stopped him. "Pagal ho gaya hai?" she asked him and turning to Geet, she instantly helped her to her feet and pushed her inside. Her protests and pleadings fell on deaf ears as Rupinder took her inside, "chup ho ja… dekh daarji and brij never change their decisions … shaant ho ja abhi… I don't want them doing anything drastic" she warned Geet and locked her inside the room. Geet couldn't delay any further, she turned to look for her phone but realized her phone was left in her bag that had dropped from her hand when she was pushed to the floor.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Things turned worst, her pleas fell on deaf ears. She was held captive in all true sense. Her bag was returned but her phone was gone. Rupinder would bring in food and tell her to compromise as this was her life now. Two days later, Rupinder came in with Brij in tow. Geet sprang to her feet. "Let me go please" she begged once again but earned a scornful look from Brij. "Jaldi leke aana isse" he told his mother and left. Supposedly the guy who was going to marry her was coming to meet her today. Rupinder tried to dress her but she struggled against her till Rupinder shook her by her shoulders, "pagal mat ban. I have been staying here for years. The more you retaliate the more will you fuel the fire. Men here are non-forgiving and self-willed. If they decide on something grave, no one will be able stop them. Please" helpless, Rupinder tried to make her understand.

There was no she was going to marry anyone else, she knew that! She was committed to Maan in mind, body and soul but she needed to find her way to him. She touched her chain and closed her eyes. Locked in this room, no opportunity would come to her. May be she could ask for help from this man who was coming to meet her. She would have to go with the flow to get to that one chance. And then she would escape!

Looking at Rupinder, with determination she got dressed. She was asked to go to the back porch where the guy was waiting for her. Clutching the ends of her dupatta, she skeptically walked towards the porch. The guy's back was towards her. He was dressed in casual jeans and shirt. "Excuse me" she called out. The guy turned around slowly.

Her eyes grew wide as she saw the person in front of him. All she could manage to utter was his name, "Arjun!"
