Geet walked inside the Khaurana mansion on cloud nine, finally the exams were done and she was sure she will pass the exams. She was going to her room intending to have a long nap but stopped outside meera's room because meera was packing a huge suitcase.

Geet knocked on the door and entered. Meera looked up and smiled,''geet, how was your paper today? Finally free?''

geet nodded and looked at three other large suitcases on the floor. They were already closed.

Geet,''are you going for vacation or something?''

meera looked puzzled for a moment and then said,''oh,you were so busy and I had to do all the packing alone, I forgot to tell you.''

geet sat on the bed, an ominous feeling in her gut. ''why are you packing.''

meera,''dev decided to move back to Norway and as my company has accepted my request for transfer, we are going this week.''

geet felt her mind go blank for a moment, and then,''why did dev bhai decided that. I thought he liked India.''

meera sighed and opened another small bag and started putting things inside.''well, he was trying very hard for his parents to shift here but mama(dev's mother) won't listen. I don't know why but she never comes to India, she even didn't come for our wedding, we went to Norway after wedding.

Geet,''so, you are leaving me?'' geet felt like her happy bubble had burst, she had been so happy these past few months, maan's changed attitude, meera's friendship, dadi ma's care, everything had been too good and now she was leaving her.

Meera looked up from her packing, her face sad as well.''I have to go geet, dev wants to be with his parents, his father is quite old now and dev has been away for more than 10 years. He came here to study and then, started his buisness, got married but still he had to go back one day.''

geet looked down at her hands, her eyes brimming with tears.

Meera,''come on geet, anyway, I am sure maan will keep you occupied. Your studies are completed, now you can spent as much time as you want staring at him.'' meera added the last sentence to lighten up geet's mood.

Tears started rolling down geet's cheek. Maan must have known all about it but he hadn't told her. He could have stopped dev and meera, everyone know, he was really close to dev's mother(who was maan's fathers younger sister). Although, she never came back to india after her marriage but maan went to meet her every year.

Meera saw geet crying and hurried to geet's side, she sat beside geet and gently removed her tears,''oh come on geet, its not like I am dead or anything, you can call me daily and we will chat on skype, I promise you, you won't even notice I am gone and I will be regularly coming to India to meet you and my mother.''

geet sobbed saying nothing.

Meera,''geet, don't do this please, I have already had a fight with dev over this and If you continue this, then I will have to try once again but I know he is right. He is their only son, he should be there with them.''

geet tried to stop her tears and shook her head and managed to utter,''no fight.''

meera loved dev very much and they were such a happy couple that geet hated to think of any kind of problem between them.

Meera,''so, stop crying.''

geet nodded, now that the initial shock was over, her tears stopped. She still felt very sad but she tried to appear like she was fine now.

Meera saw through her efforts clearly, she was trying to put a brave face but she was still sad. But there was nothing meera could do about it, she had to go if not this time, then some other time.

Meera,''geet I am going away but I will be always ready to help you, I will sent you my new number

and we can talk any time you want. Okay. And next time, maan comes to norway, you can come along with him. In fact, badger him until he take you with him.''

geet nodded and sniffed.

Meera,''don't let him get all bossy over you, keep your eyes open all the time, and please, try to give a little attention to yourself. World doesn't start with word M and neither ends with M.

geet gave a teary smile at her words.''mine always did.''

meera shook her head,''I think you that you were a bit more sensible before where he was concerned.''

geet couldn't stop a laugh but this laugh was full of a silent sorrow not mirth. ''no, I am same geet.'' may be it was because geet knew she will never get the chance to talk with meera like this for a long time or may be something inside her, a broken part which still waited to be acknowledged , told that she needed this to share with someone. So, geet continued to tell meera.

''I am same, its just maan who has changed. I can do any thing to please him and always wanted to do. But just seeing me used to displease him so much that nothing else mattered.

I wear his favourite colours, his favourite dresses but I used to do that before as well. He just never noticed. He always ignored, no matter how much beautiful I looked. His eyes remained distant.''

there was a broken sound in her voice but she continued,'' I used to wait on the roof for hours on weekend, waiting for him to come and he would come but never look at me. I once made his favourite dish, he didn't even eat it.''

''so, now when he even looks at me, its a big deal for me, when he smiles, I feel like I have won the world. But I am scared'' geet confessed to meera ,''i am so scared that I will wake up one day and he will be ignoring me, that his eyes will held resentment, that his eyes will make me feel that I have no right to live, to be loved, that..that I am nothing to him.''

meera hugged geet,''stop it you foolish girl, of course, nothing like that will happen.'' her heart breaking meera got up and put jug and glass from bed side and filled with water and gave it to geet. Geet's eyes were slightly red. She gulped the water down like she had been thirsty for days.

No one said anything for some time. Geet slowly calmed herself down, she didn't know what had came over her but hearing about meera leaving had awoken a sleeping fear that maan would leave her. Of course, it was silly but no one can stop there own thoughts. Geet took a deep breath and trying to change the topic said,''have done all the shopping, got everything you might need.''

meera nodded,''dadi ma took over that department, I am suppose to do all the packing and she will do shopping all the items, I gave her a list.''

geet trying to think,''what about clothes, gifts for in-laws...?''

meera,''yeah, I think jewellery for dev's mom and.........''

geet watched maan come out of his car at 9 and hurriedly went to the kitchen and with the help of servants started putting dinner on table. Then, she called dadi ma. Dev and Meera were over at meera's mother place for dinner.

By the time, maan came to the table,after shower, everything was set. He greeted everyone and sat on his usual seat. Geet handed him one of the dish. Maan seemed really quiet. Geet who was feeling very sad was quiet. Only dadi ma kept a light conversation going on. Maan replied, telling about some project.

After dinner, maan got up and said good night to dadi ma claiming he was very tired and needed to sleep.

Geet helped clean up the table and went up, she was feeling tired but couldn't sleep. She had tried to sleep in afternoon but couldn't. Toying with the idea of using a sleeping pill, geet entered her room.

Maan was sitting on the bed reading a magazine, geet was surprised, she thought he would be sleeping. That was all he did in the past month during her papers. It was like he was on drug or something. Every night, he would be sleeping at 10.
