The Day after
-------------------

She tried hard to reach them,but they kept moving ahead...away from her....

"Please wait for me.."

She called out and kept on running as fast as her tired legs could carry her..but something strong kept pulling her back....and then they disappeared!!

"Mammaa..Paapaa..",Geet woke up screaming!!!

She looked around totally confused.She seemed to be in a hospital....her left leg was in a cast and her body was full of bruises.

"Geet,are you alright sweetheart?"

Geet turned to face a worried looking Dev. His right arm was in a sling and he had a huge plaster on his forehead.

"Dev,What happened to us?Where are the others? I want to see Mamma & Paapa"

"Geet relax baby..they are all here..You can meet them once you are alright."

"No Dev,I want to see them now! Where's Di & Maanji and where's my Aryan?Annie?Daadi??please tell me Dev..."

"Geet calm down..Geeeeet",before Dev could stop her,she had pulled the I V drip out and was trying to get up.

Dev called for help.They made her sit in a wheel chair and took her to Daadi's room.She too had bandages and plasters all over but nothing too serious. Geet noticed that she was weeping.

"Daadi,are you alright?Why are you crying?Do you know where Mamma and Paapa are??"

Realization dawned on her as Daadi's sobs grew louder...

"I want to see them",she started screaming.

Reluctantly Dev took her to the morgue. She shivered like a leaf in the cold morgue..a part of her wanted to run away from there...from reality...but she stayed on..she wanted to convince herself that they were no more..and when she saw their lifeless bodies,the pain was so unbearable that it left her numb...

Dev held her close to his heart with his good arm.As they turned to leave,her eyes fell on a small body on the postmortem table. Before Dev could stop him,the attender removed the white cloth covering the face.......and Geet forgot to breath.....She fell to the ground in a dead faint...

It was raining heavily....as though the Gods were also grieving along with them...she sat with Daadi & Annie..She had stopped crying long back...she stared blankly at the bodies covered with white sheets...she didn't want to see their lifeless faces..In her mind,she still had vivid pictures of their happy ,smiling faces..and she was going to live with those good memories....Well,easier said than done!.....How was she going to survive without the warmth,love and protection of her parents?? How will she live without the support and guidance of her Di??... and Aryan,her baby....will she ever be able to get over the grief of losing him??? She had no answers....

Moninder's family had come from Hoshiarpur to attend the cremation. They decided to take Geet with them after the ceremonies. She had never seen them her whole life...She refused to go with them and hid herself in Daadi's room.Daadi begged and pleaded with them to let her stay in Khurana Mansion,but they were adamant and stood by their decision. Dev and Annie felt helpless..they wanted to stop those people from taking Geet away,but didn't know how! The only person who could do something was Maan but...............he was in a coma.

"Maanji,Maanji get up please....look at these people..they want to take me away.....I don't want to go.....please help me..stop them Maanji...please...",Geet hid her face in his chest and cried bitterly.

"Maanji.....",she screamed as her uncle lifted her off him and out of the room.

"Mishti....",he called out as he opened his eyes.

Days later

All the relatives had left after the ceremonies...only Daadi,Yash Annie and Maan remained.

Dev went abroad to join the university.Annie joined her new college,while Geet was in Hoshiarpur .She felt herself a misfit there and was finding it hard to adjust to the conservative environment..women were treated with absolutely no respect in that family...she wondered whether they'll let her continue her studies.

To her relief,her Grandfather decided to send her to Amritsar to study Architecture,ofcourse against the wishes of her uncles and cousins! But he didn't care....he wanted to do atleast this much for Moninder's litttle princess.

Geet stayed in the university hostel,but was under the constant scrutiny of her relatives.She stayed in touch with Dev & Annie ,called up Daadi,every week end,but all her efforts to speak to Maan were in vain.

He was not talking to anybody,not responding to anything..he hid himself in the confines of his room....no food..no sleep..the tears wouldn't stop..he cursed God day and night for sparing his life....

Daadi's attempts to bring him out of his room didn't work....it seemed as though he was punishing himself for being alive without his wife and child!!! He even attempted to take his life,but Daadi's timely intervention saved him.She spent day and night with him,scared that he might attempt again...

Khurana Constructions suffered huge losses due to his absence..the stocks came crashing down! Finally Yash decided to step in and take control.

One year later

Khurana Mansion
------------------------

"Daadi ma, company se phone hai", Nakul handed her the cordless.

"Hello,Haan boliye..Kyaaa????", Nakul came running to hold Daadi,seeing her sway on her feet.

"Daadi Maa,Kya hua ji?"

"Maan...Maan kaha hai??Call him now!!!",she said sobbing...
