Suhana's Corner: Being brave in the face of adversity

This week to my utter dismay I learnt I wasn't pregnant. While at home, everyone was emotional, ecstatic and energized about my pregnancy, the nonstop tests made me very nervous. When Ishaan didn't meet me immediately after returning from the doctor's, I was worried. And when he didn't talk to me for the longest time and kept avoid answering my questions about the doctor's report and my health, I got very upset with him. I asked him point blank and learnt the harsh truth- I have brain tumour.

I was shocked to say the least when I heard this piece of information. Infact, I can now say I was devastated. I realised that we human beings attach hope to every small and big thing. We expect a lot from life. Everyone at home was hoping that I was pregnant especially with the symptoms of dizziness and nausea. I won't lie, even I felt I was pregnant and I was really happy.

I keep telling Ishaan that he behaves like a typical husband and I don't like it but actually deep down in my heart I love when he behaves that way. It proves he really cares and loves me. I don't need proof of his love but when he does the small things for me, it makes me feel special. He is my biggest support and I love him a lot.

After a lot of dilly dallying, Ishaan told me about the brain tumour and the need to do a biopsy. This was a huge curve ball life threw at me. No one ever expects to have brain tumour or any other illness for that matter but when situations are unfavorable - be it a tough emotional one, something wrong in your relationships, finances not working out well, marriage not working out, you don't fare as well in exams as you thought or any other situation which is opposite of what you hoped- you should not lose faith. You should keep going on and work hard at making things right. One must be brave in adverse situations in life. That is the true test of human character.

Papa and Ishaan discussed my illness with Dad who came to the hospital too. Dad assured me that all will be fine and he believed nothing will happen to me. His emotional support was very comforting. He was a great strength to Ishaan as well.

At the hospital, I could see that Ishaan was really scared, perhaps more than me. I found the strength to keep a brave face and go through the motions of check up and biopsy and I took strength from Dad's words that all will be well in the end. But I will admit I was scared too. Ishaan wanted to come with me but the doctors wouldn't allow him. I was feeling afraid leaving everyone behind and going in the test room all alone, but I had to be brave for my family members- for dad, papa and most of all Ishaan, who was struggling with his composure so that I don't break down or lose my courage. After the tests, the doctors said I was very brave and that the reports would take seven days. I hope all is well and my illness is treatable.

Meanwhile, I am determined to fight my tumour bravely. I have read so many stories of people displaying amazing courage in such adverse situations and not losing hope and in the end, emerging victorious. I will admit it is very disheartening and makes you wonder - why me? what have I done to deserve this? But I will do all that I can to beat this tumour. Do pray for me. I look forward to your support at such distressful times to carry me forward.

Mahum Talpur - hi ragini di i am mahum from pakistan i love u soo much cant tell i am crazzy for u...hav watched u since bhaskar bharti and u are doing a grt job in SGP i hav followed the show since beginning and the two characters i loved who always made me follow the show were badi maa and suhana. suhana is very sweet very cute love her angelic smile and so good is the person behind her who made us love suhana. i hope u will read this and reply too...it always make me think m crazy for her i feel so glad when she is happy and so sad when she is sad the scene when u said to ishaan "can we hav a tight hug- i need u!" i felt like actually crying and wanted to give u a tight hug at that moment. aswathi p - Hai Ragini hope you are doing fine. i am not familiar with Ragini but very much with Bharthi and Suhana. I am very much taken away by your acting skills. My family watch SGP regularly. Since i am staying at hostel i have never gone for any serials. But when ever i call home my sister always have something to say about Suhana, her innocent actions or talks which drives the family more closer to her. She always asked to watch SGP and thus one day i watched SGP with her on my leave days. since i have heard a lot about the characters, they were not new to me but just wanted to identify their faces. ANd from that day i have never missed SGP. The credits defenitely goes to you, ishaan and the family.Then I also managed to watch Bhaskar Bharathi too and no words to appreciate you. But nowadays i miss those mornings and evenings in ur bedroom. those small fights, debates and the emotional scenes between suhana and ishaan(scenes till the confession of ur love for ishaan). hope that such scenes are more to come.
