I was thinking of the Immigrants that come from another country and build a home in the West. They HATE the Country they liven in .They have anti feelings about it the Country and all they can do is criticise and feel anger and rage for the country on whose soil they build their home, career, and life.

They long for the Home Country and can do nothing but idolise it.

What i really don't understand is unless they have left their Country and were seeking asylum in the West. Why don't they go back to the Land that would make them happy??? Why live in a foreign land you hate???

For those that have come seeking some sort of asylum .( meaning their life is in danger in their own land.....so they ask another Country to give them shelter and safety. An example being Taslima Nasreen......who was exiled from Bangladesh and a fatwa taken out on her.....she fled to the West). Now a person who has taken asylum in another country, they obviously would have terrible living conditions in their own land . They take shelter else where. Shouldn't they be gratrefull to the Country that gave them shelter ?

What i am trying to say is why hate the country where you have built your life ?( Unless you are being held against your will there.....like a prisoner)
Isn't that wrong? Or do you have a justification to this behaviour???

life is not that easy, to just decide to hate or love somthing, ppl struggel in life, ppl from india and pakistan and other countries come to the west for money and for having a name in the world, they come here becouse there own home countries dont offer a lot of opportunites, that dosent meant they will just come here and forget there home country, they will always be emotionaly bonded to there country and they will miss it, they also might not like the government of society of there new country, causing them to dislike it, its just humanl feelings

i dont think they hate it to that extent. it's just the fact that they miss their homeland. I know that they can go back, but most likely they are able to understand that the conditions for living are better in the west than their homeland.

it does sometime annoy me when one of my auntie always says 'you should go home (pakistan/india) sometime!!' because i dont consider that to be my home.

jetmania i am NOT talking about the people that miss their homeland.

Majority of them are people like me( first generation immigrants) who miss their homeland. I am not talking about these people!!

But they are many who hate the country they live in to the extent of disloyalty and probably will sell their country to terrorist. They will hate the country and constantly hate everything associated with it!! I am even talking about most of the terrorist involved in 9/11 attack and London bombings were people who lived in U.K and U.S. They grew up their, they were second generation immigrants !! Those are the people i mean!!

lol, i got your message😛

i went to a committe meeting about why a person who was educated in the UK- had a degree etc etc would resort to terrorism. the only real answer that i could think off was that the person was having an identity crisis. i admit that i have it sometimes. The abuse that I get at times from fellow citizens of this country is horrible at times, it makes me wonder where do I actually belong. Its not nice having wood chucked at you and being spat at etc. Therefore as these people who are having identity crises are already vulnerable, because they are lost and looking for answers. These people are then used by the extremists that take advantage of the fact that a person is lost.

I hope this is answering your question, this is my opinion but I reckon that this is the reason why many people turn to terrorism even though they are eg British. It's the extremist that we should watch out for and it unfortunately does happen that these extremists use religion as a base for their manipulation and some people will do anything when it comes to religion.

😊

when ppl leave their country and go to another country, mostly they are looking for better opportunities as their home country may or may not provide that much to them..so they migrate and when in such cases their expectations from the foreign country are not met they tend to criticise it...i kno it makes more sense leaving the country and going but most ppl find it difficult to do that...altho i kno quite a few who have returned..
their reason to criticise the foreign country may also be due to the fact that they are not respected as they are in their own country and that makes them bitter, but in most of these cases these ppl are unable to go bak to their country coz it would have already been to late and again looking for a job in the home country would be very tedious...

You know one gets respect if you give back respect.!!!!

If you look at the culture you are in with disdain and with that superiority air(desi culture is superior). Then you will get what one deserves. That is disrespect!! Because even if you don't say it , it will reflect in your behavior towards others!!

Now we are first genertion Indians who came to U.S to have a economicaly better life. Who will know better than us ,as to why people immigrate. We have open minds and adapting styles. I can say *touchwood* i have not been treated like a "second class" or a inferior person!!!!! Thank god!! And my Indian friends here have not experienced any discrimination ( at least openly) either!!

Second gen Indians ( like so many on this forum...even in this section) won't know what the real meaning of looking for opportuniies out side your homeland truly means. They are only words you have heard from us first generation Indians. They haven't experienced the hardships, can't compare two countries in the real sense. But usually its the second generation Indians that hold so much hate and grudge towards the West is something i don't understand.

i saw this topic when aparna di posted it but being a 2nd generation i didnt know how to respond.

now that the discussion is directed at 2nd generation i can have an opinion.

like my parents, aparna di and many of our parents immigrants come here or any other western country hoping for a better life. this is something us 2nd generations take forgranted because we are born and raised in these western countries.

there are 2 extreme types of 2nd generations

1..your typical ABCD...they dont identify with desi culture and consider themselves american only to find that they are not accepted as american but rather "indians" by the western society. they are overly patriotic of their homeland. yes this is a good thig..but some go as far as to bad mouth their parent's homeland because they dont think they connect with that country.

2...the haters...their purpose in life it to find problems with the country and critisize everything. they take forgranted that they are living eating and breathing there so they have no right to hate. their parents came there for them and these people cant even be thankful?

im happy to say i dont qualify as either of the two types i mentioned. 😃

yea i know of many faults in our country and i can critisize it...but i dont hate america...its my home. yea our country has been though a lot in the past 6 years (and who knows how bad it will get in the next two years) but its ok every country goes through tough times under horrible leaders...we are lucky to be living in a country where the leader can make stupid mistakes but he cannot control our lives and he cant rule for more than 4 years (8 if the people are stupid and vote for him...like what we just did...not my fault i cant vote yet 😉..when i do vote these "wonderful" leaders wont be able to run because their 2 term would be up 😉 )

ok enough about my love for our great leader 😆 back to the topic...

why do 2nd generation people "hate"? arent they american or whatever nationality it is of the country they are from? if you think otherwise look at legal documents like your passport..under nationality mine says American 😆.

hmmmm 😕 hmmm....i thought for a long time about it....it is like opening a can of worms. Firstly it is not about religion or countries...if you think about it we don't owe a country anything nor does country perse owe us anything (talking about the political boundarylines). however we owe a community(which in larger sense maybe defined as country or religious group) a social debt.
The problem is that which community do we identify ourselves with and which community gives us a purpose. There are ABCDs who identify with western culture and erase thier roots in hopes of moving forward by calling thier ex-country rural, backward and corrupt. On the other hand we have fanatics who identify with thier ex-countries and find it difficult to accept the common western norms. They hate the hypocrisy ,the wealth and the lifestyle of western countries when they compare it with the poverty of thier ex-countries.The idea that they can somehow balance it or play a role in reducing these differences gives them purpose. these people believe in superiority of thier culture and lifestyle and have very low tolerance level when it comes to other cultures.Historically you can call it reverse colonial mentality. for example...when britisher landed in India...while they partook in its wealth, enjoyed the pleasures that were available and became immensely wealthy but they could never stop hating it(even the rainy, damp weather of britian along with its narrow cobbled streets seemed better than the open fields and open skies of India). They were so engrossed in thier cultural superiority that they considered Indians(progeny of one of the oldest and most scientific cultures) uneducated and felt the need to enlighten them.It is the same with these people except that they are from east and have landed in west.
believe it or not parents too are responsible to some extent for it....sometimes in an effort to keep out culture alive, we unwaringly teach our kids intolerance for everything that we don't understand or is unfamiliar.for example...when it comes to dating , how many asian parents take time to underline cultural differences when explaining thier kids that they are not comfortable with it. it is much easier to say it is bad, animalistic and very basic and our way of life is much more superior and sophisticated. given how much exposure a kid has to the other culture...he has just had his first shot of cultural superiority. when these things go to extreme ...we have intolerant people ready to become terrorists.

Well being in India I can only hypothise.

Its a sad reality that there are people who develop this feeling of hatred and annihilation towards the country they live in.

This can be attributed to various reasons like unemployment, poverty, soul-destroying racism, poor education, little or no representation in polity coupled with profound alienation. The prime eg is whats happening in France.

The Migrating country needs to integrate the immigrants into their culture which sadly does not happen. Unfortunately they provide little or no efforts.

The migrants came to new country with hope of improving their socio-economic status.Life is not a bed of roses (not even in US 😆 )and soon they face privation & feel dejected and lost.

This is where lack of support both from Govt,family/ friends or society leads them disarray. Here its imp to note that culture shock is still significant.

Concrete efforts from both sides need to made to overcome this issue. instead of criticizing/blaming each other, which anyway will only magnify itself.

The truth is the world is more free today and future has even less boundaries so its imp to wake up now.
