It's been a while! 😈 After a disastrous couple of months that left me writing many a "dard-bhara" poem in your honor, I am cautiously optimistic that the story is slowly showing signs of life! 👍🏼
Now...before I get to the episode, let me write a bit about some aspects of the last few weeks that just did not work for me.
Firstly, unlike the majority of the junta, I have no issues with Geet forgiving Dev. Would I have done that had it been my life...highly doubtful. But...this character is your creation and I respect your vision. Moreover Geet has never been characterized as feeling like a rape victim so this act is not a drain on my brain. That said, try as I might, I cannot swallow the whole "Dev applying holi ke rang on Geet" waala scene. 😲 What in Babaji's holy name was that? 😳 It was not consistent with Geet's own reactions earlier in the week where she was shown being uncomfortable in Dev's presence several times. Why then are we now expected to believe that she is suddenly ok with this level of proximity? 😡 Really poor characterization that!
Secondly, Maan's anger over Dev post the marriage to Geet has felt over the top. To be characterized this way now when Maan was not shown expressing this much anger or disdain after the October truth revelation/confrontation even is very "screenplay convenient". 😔 That aside, the anger in the past week as an off-shoot of the jealousy and insecurity from seeing Dev around Geet is understandable. This needs to be further built on in the new phase of the story. Maan has always been been slightly weak EQ-wise so for the story and the Geet/Maan relationship to grow, Maan needs to do some reflection on what makes him this way. Despite all his talk about vishwaas and bharosa, Maan rarely places any in Geet when it matters so she should not be shown accepting mere words of remorse this time. Actions always speak louder than words and Maan needs to make the big character groW*H leaps now and walk the talk!
Thirdly, while Geet has started to deal with her grief at the loss of their baby, Maan has barely touched those emotions. Instead he has been shown being indulgent of his anger and jealousy over Dev at a time when they, as a couple, have barely accepted the cruel hand that fate dealt them. They need to be shown grieving together at some point. It is natural and would be brilliant in the screenplay as their relationship really grows.
Lastly, characterizing Dev as a "Maan"atma 🤣 does not work from an overall story standpoint. I am hoping against hope that either his holier than thou attitude is a deliberate act or something more will happen in the future to make him revert back to his villainous avatar!
Chingari ka tukda jala koi
Umeed ko aag laga zara
Sehra ki pyaas bujha zara..
Coming to the new track...please remember the value of a good build-up. 😎 Let the steam that is Geet's reactions build up slowly. The current stage of the story is different from their pre-marriage separations and misunderstandings in that the protagonists love for each other is well established. So it will be nice to see Geet eventually missing and dreaming of Maan instead of just recalling his hurtful words. But most importantly, I hope this track establishes the open communication that is lacking in their relationship sketch. Finally, I hope its not too much to expect a story and screenplay that is not cliche ridden and inspired by similar plots in B-town movies.
Phew...that's it for now. 😆 So much more I can write on the loose ends (Meera, Sasha etc.), the NE characters and what more did or did not work in the past few months...but I will save that for another day! 😈 😆
For now...here's hoping this new track starts with a rocking episode today! 😍
Hum hai rahi pyaar ke, phir milenge...chalte chalte! 🤗
