DID Doubles gets tougher
Divya Pal, TNN | Mar 23, 2011, 12.00am ISTAs the competition in " DID Doubles" gets intense, the contestants gear up to take on more challenges and slog to give flawless performances. But how great are they while staging these performances?
Well, going by we saw, when the teams performed recently, they are perfect. For each act was unique and well choreographed. But so much fun without any pain? Naah! When we caught up with Cornell, a contestant, he told us how he has injured himself, not once or twice, but several times. "How can you perform if you are terrified of hurting yourself? It is not about how many times you trip but how fast you learn to avert that. I perform with the idea to do something interesting. Each time I get new steps to learn, I end up hurting myself. But now I have grown used to it," he said.
For Karan, a contestant from Delhi, dance has helped him grow mentally strong. "I met with an accident about three years ago and hurt my elbow and leg. It is the love for dance that has helped not to worry about the pain and focus to become a dancer," he said.
Marzi Pestonji wanted to drop in at the Qutub complex but his schedule was such that he couldn't fulfill his childhood dream. "Wahan pe ek aisi jagah hai jahan pe aap Qutub Minar ko pakad ke snap le sakte ho. But I didn't have time to go there. And this is one thing i always wanted to do since i was a kid," he rued. Marzi, who was asked by the contestants to perform a jig with Shweta Salve, said it was impromptu? "It wasn't planned. I knew Shweta's outfit couldn't have allowed her to perform. However, she still joined me," he said, adding, "No wonder, she is a great dancer. Shweta, who has always shared an amiable bond with her mentors, told us how important it is to have a good rapport with guru. "I have always been candid with my teachers and paid attention to what they say. i ask the contestants too to listen carefully to their mentors," she said.
