Chanakya is very shrewd an wise man... he does not allow things like what other's will think rule him .... he was trying to see what CGM wud do if one more difficulty was put in his way when he had almost reached the top... Chanakya was busy examining Chadragupt's skills and his self determination... he wants someone with physical as well as mental strength to become the ruler
