Being in the news for quite some time now is Rajnikanth's film Rana, but the buzz that has held more importance is who will be the leading ladies opposite him!
Many names such as Katrina and Asin were suggested and shortlisted for the role of the third lady opposite Rajni. After a lot of speculation it has finally been decided that the third lady to play Rajnikanth's sweetheart will be none other then the Indian beauty Vidya Balan. Known for her powerful performances in movies such as Parineeta, Bhool Bhulaiya, Ishqiya and the most recent No One Killed Jessica, Vidya's Indian look as well as a background from the South made her a top candidate for this film. The makers of the movie wanted someone who can connect equally to audiences from the south as well.
Rajni who plays a triple role in the film stars opposite not only Vidya but two other ladies as well who also have a southern background. The elder Rajni will be opposite the timeless beauty Rekha, the middle one will be opposite Vidya and the youngest one will be opposite Deepika Padukone. Along with these notable actors, Sonu Sood, who recently garnered a lot of praise for his negative role for the blockbuster Dabangg, plays a villain in this movie as well.
The movie, directed by KS Ravi Kumar and produced by Eros Entertainment along with Soundarya Rajnikanth's Ocher Studios Pvt. Ltd., is set to release some time in April.
