So I ended up watching an episode of Maachis this Friday... It was pretty
interesting... Let me tell you briefly what happened...

So this lady came with her lil sis who was 17 years old... The sis was
taking tution from a guy (married with kids)... The older sister said that
there was an affair going on between her lil sis and the tutor... The tutor
and the lil sis complelety denied it...

The older sister said that she has seen the tutor give gifts to the lil sis...
Also, she has seen cards that say 'I love you'... She also said that she
caught them dining at a resturant... The tutor said that he gave gifts for
encouragement but denied that the cards said 'i love you' on it... Also, he
said that he had promised the lil sis that if she gets more than 80% marks
on the test, he would take the girl to a good resturant... He also said that
there is nothing wrong with going to a resturant with the student... The lil
sister also said that there is no affair and that she thinks her older sister
is jealous... The tutor then said that he also thinks that the older sis is
interested in him and that is why she is creating all this drama... Khair, all
this discussion goes on with them denying the allegations... The tutor
even says that the lil sis told him that there was an affair of the older sis
but the guy married someone else... Oh and the tutor was hired to teach
physics and math and he also started teaching urdu literature ( the
romantic poetry) without anyone knowing it... The lil sis said that when
her parents trust her, then the sis should also trust her...

After a long denial process, the lil sis all of a sudden said that the tutor
indeed told her that he loves her and will marry her... This took everyone
by surprise... She said that the tutor said that after her matric exams he
would bring the proposal for her... When asked why she agreed knowing
that he is married, she said that first he didn't tell her that he was married
with kids but later told her and said that he is very unhappy and would
leave his wife... The tutor denied this and said that she came under her
big sis influence and that's why she is saying this... All in all, till the end,
the tutor kept denying the relationship while the two sisters kept saying
that he was lying...

It was obvious that the tuotr was lying... He said that he was leading a
very happy married life... He said that his relationship with his wife was
such that they have full confdence in each other,,, When asked if he told
his wife about taking his student to a resturant, he said that he doesn't
discuss his professional lfe with his wife but if she came to know, he
wouldn't deny it...

What are your views on this? Who do you think is to be blamed here?

Our educational system in Pakstan is such that every other person takes
tution... What are your views on this?

Thanks Maha, I missed this Friday's episode! 😃

well, thats a sad situation. it is true. I think Matric students should go to Acedmies if they want to study. personal tutors are waste of time and money. this is wahat I have learned through personal experince. when we were young, we used to have tutor. and half the time, he used to sit and drink tea. and kept telling us to bring more "biscuits". and then after eatting the whole pack, he used to ask. is dinner ready!!??!

so in conclusion we were paying him for eatting cookies and dinner. grrrr

anyways. this whole thing is quite common now. the respect we used to have for our teachers and teachers taking care of their studies like their bros and sisters or even childern has ended.

My Matric Chemistry Sir was 25 years old only. and I have never seen him going off his limits. we were his students or his sisters. which I think was really nice. another Sir, used to call us beta all the time. aur itni shafkat saye parhatye thye keh boht hi maza aata tha. he used to walk around in the class, while teaching. aur kabhi bhi woh kisi keh sir per haath rakh kar itnye pyaar saye pouchtye thye sawal.

I think this all has finished now. the logic of teachers being the second parents has gone now. insulting and talking bluntly and doing badtamizi with them has become somthing really "kool" and a symbol of "modernization"

iss main galati saab ki hai. teachers ki, students ki aur parents ki. if that tutor was coming to teach. he should have come, teach and go. why promise things?? and that too of dinning out!!

if he has so much money to waste on stupid dine outs. then why is he tutoring???

I think I went off topic. and my lecture has gone to a long lenght so will stop here. 😳

wow saba appi..long lectures as usual...not just u all of the GMs are very good at long lectures and putting people to sleep 😆 😆 😆 ..is that a job requirement 😉

ok now for the serious part

whether it is true or not does not matter and i agree with saba appi's long lecture. The respect that was between a student-teacher relationship is no longer there. I dont know what the reason for this is but it seems to be a common thing nowadays. Some teachers dont treat their students as students and other times the students dont teach their teachers as teachers. it is because these defined relationships are being broken that such problems are being created.

As for the private tutoring, i think it is useless. LOL at Saba appi's story..well you did say your mom was a great cook 😆. But yea gropu tutoring at an institute of even a group of friends calling a private tutor at one house and studying together is better. Studying in groups keeps people more focused.

What I dont understand is why is Pakistan's education system so poorly arranged? I dont know from personal experience because i never attended school anywhere outside of New York (NYC Public School system is 1 of the best urban school systems in the country..ok enough about that 😆). I mean why is tutoring so mandatory? What do the children do in schools if all their learning is done at home or at an institute with a tutor? I have been in school for 11 years and of those 11 years i never went to a tutor and i am doing really well in my academic career 😳 . I mean the children there pay for the schools and the tutoring? it is outrageous and stupid. Education in Pakistan has become a business. People open schools because it is one of the most successful means of making a living. I heard from actual students and their parents that all the teachers do private tutoring or work at institutes and if you need extra help they "advertise" and tell their students to go there. This summer when i went to Pakistan i was really annoyed at their education system. One of my cousins went to school, came home ate thn went to tutoring came back did homework from both places, ate slept and the cycle repeats itself. The schools there start in August and i was there all of August so it was soo annoying i got NO time to spend with her (except weekends). She told me that if she does not attend both tutoring and school she cannot do well on her matric exams because they split the cirriculam to make sure students attend both. I thought that was just a cheap tactic on the School System's part to make more money.

Sorry for going off topic..we were talking about the teacher-student relationship not the horrible school system in pakistan 😳

oh wow saba appi talk about lectures...i think mine was longer than yours 😆

Both of you made some very good points here...

lol Saba... biscuits and tea! This reminds me of my maulvi Sahib who used to come and teach Quran... He used to do that, sat and had tea and biscuits while we recited Quran... It was so distubing because we use to be reciting Quran while he used to be sipping on his tea very very loudly 😆 ... Sorry just got reminded so thought I'd share it although it has nothing to do with this topic... 😳 😆

First off, I felt like slapping the girl and the tutor. The girl was as guilty as the guy. The girl was trying to show her self all "masoom" but she was very "chalak"! She was putting all the blame on the guy.

Second of all, she wasn't looking 17! 😆 I give her like 20.

Third off all, 80% isn't a wow mark, and going to a dinner with a tutor/teacher is just so wrong. Well, it was like a date. If that's his way of encouraging his pupils, I wonder how much money he spent on dinner. And I'm sure he has all female students!

Fourth! the girl was getting all fired up abt that guy, but she's the one who agreed to go to the dinner.

Five, it seems to me that she was ready to marry him but the only thing that stopped her was getting to know that he had children.

I think that's abt it for my opinion! It was a funny and interesting episode though! 😛

I agree, the Pakistani eduacation system is not the best. I'm not the best person to judge the system since I don't go to school there, but whatever I've seen from my visits to Pakistan, not too impressive.

I really think it's unfair to the public, because they are paying for their children's education, and they shouldn't be left behind because the people incharge are too lazy to teach all the material. It's unfair to the parents, in Pakistan my cousins used to get tutored by my older cousin because they were 4 brothers and sisters and my aunt uncle couldn't pay for tutors for all of them. In their case my older cousins are there to help them out but what about the parents who can't afford a tutor, the poor children will be left behind.

I think this discussion was about the situation in the episode and not the Pak. Schooling system, sorry I just find that poeple are very irresponsible and very unfair to the pakistani public.

As for who I think is to blame,
I think both the girl and tutor is to blame, but the girl should know better than to trust the tutor. If he is out there promising the girl these things behind his wife's back how can she be certain that he would be faithful to her? And the tutor well he's just got a really bad character 🤢
