Where are these facts you speak of? Gimme links? What are you talking about? 😕 Advertising is based on basic human desire and not on TRP's. It is the commericalization of the product you intend to sell, nothing more. Who said ratings are made up? ratings are based on taking a sample from a particular sampling distribution and then using that to approximate the mean. There on, they simulate a design to proximate the viewers countrywide. All of this is approximation, so it is not precise at all.

I am sorry but ads are not based on human desire.During IPL in India rates for advertisements are the highest ,companies wait for IPL to take out their best of ads for eg vodafone and its zozo's.Its not because they desire to do so its because its one of the most watched events in India. And we have understood the basics of TRP's from your post but the fact still remains that TV channels use this to measure their success. Now whether you believe in them or not is your personal opinion but the fact remains that TRP's are important for TV channels

Confused ummm so you are contending that advertisers don't look at ratings of a particular show when they make the decision as to where to invest? You may not have any connection to marketing, I don't know but if you ever go in to marketing, the first thing they'll teach you is that advertising is all about product, and placement.........there is a reason why a 30 second ad played during the superbowl costs a million dollar each and a 30 second ad played during an afternoon low rated soap opera sells for 100,000 dollars.....Tongue who said ratings are precise? But they are pretty darn close......and if you don't believe in the science of sampling then well that's your choice...but many a mathematicians way smarter then you and I have proven the validity of sampling..........Tongue Zee, Sony, Colors, believe in sampling and that is why they based their decisions on which shows to keep, which not to keep etc based on ratings.........Tongue Ratings are not an Indian thing, television markets the world over rely and live by ratings.....Tongue How do you think they decide which shows to keep and which not to keep? 😊
