Choosy with roles...
He may have shot to fame by winning a reality show, but the entire genre now fails to attract TV personality Aamir Ali Malik. "People ridicule themselves on reality shows these days. I'd gladly watch them and laugh at them," smiles Aamir, in town in on Saturday to perform at Technorazz 2011, organised by Jaipur National University.
Nevertheless, he had won the dance reality show with the love of his life, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and the two are still very much in love. On that note, we ask what his plans for Valentine's Day are.
"There's no need for a day to celebrate love. Even if you do, I think the celebrations should be quiet and personal," says Aamir, one to keep personal matters to himself. But that doesn't that mean he's reserved.
Aamir doesn't shy away from saying how seriously one should take Rakhi Sawant, and what she said after losing the dance show. "She's a funny woman—you cannot take her seriously. I have my reservations about someone who takes her seriously," quips Aamir.
He may have begun with television, but Aamir is making it big in films too! He started with Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, also appearing in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Kya Dill Mein Hai and Bhaskar Bharti. His films include Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai and I Hate Luv Storys.
"I have been very selective about my work. I have been getting offers for several films and TV serials, but I am waiting for right opportunity," says Aamir, insisting that one should work with good banners only.
