Priya Sachdev files a plea to seek divorce papers between Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur; SC issues notice

The inheritance dispute involving the late businessman Sunjay Kapur's estate has intensified. His children, from his marriage with Karisma Kapoor, claim they were unfairly left out of the will. They have accused their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, of this. The Supreme Court has now issued a notice to Karisma Kapoor regarding the matter.

Priya files a fresh plea

The Supreme Court has sent a notice to Karisma Kapoor following a petition from Priya Sachdev Kapur. Priya is requesting copies of the divorce documents between Karisma and Sunjay Kapur. The court is now awaiting Karisma's response to Priya's petition. This development adds a new layer to the ongoing inheritance dispute.

Justice Chandurkar privately reviewed the case, asking Karisma for a response within two weeks. This follows Priya's Supreme Court appeal for confidential divorce records. Priya filed a plea, seeking certified copies of all 2016 divorce documents between Karisma and Sunjay. She aims to confirm financial settlements and child custody details.

Ongoing legal fued

Following Sunjay Kapur's passing, Priya, now a legal heir, seeks access to divorce records. She claims these documents are crucial for the ongoing succession matter in the Delhi High Court. The backdrop includes Karisma's initial allegations of domestic abuse and substance abuse against Sunjay during their divorce proceedings. This led to a contentious legal battle. In 2016, the couple reached a mutual consent divorce, with Karisma withdrawing the domestic violence case. Subsequently, the Supreme Court dismissed the dowry case filed by Karisma, based on her consent.

About Sunjay Kapur

The legal dispute over Sunjay Kapur's estate involves Karisma's children, Samaira and Kiaan, and Priya, Sunjay's widow. The children contest Priya's will, alleging it's fake and designed to disinherit them. Accusations have flown between both parties in court. Sunjay, former chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away in London. He was married to Karisma from 2003 to 2016, with two children, and later married Priya in 2017, with one son.
