Piya : Kaise ho gaya tumhe is darinde se pyaar?

As we saw in the precap , Piya – her face coloured in terror and disgust , huddled in her blanket asks herself :
"Piya, kaise ho gaya tumhe is darinde se pyaar?"
" Piya, how could you fall in love with a monster like him?"
Valid? Yes. Natural? Yes.She is only HUMAN and yet to be more.
Come back to the episode now. The Piya in today's episode is not the Piya that you saw in the precap Today , Piya was a woman in love – passionately, obsessively, truly , madly , deeply and whatever adjectives and verbs you can think of. Yes, to the extent of Abhay being a mental illness to her ,w hich he is. Obviously, we have never termed her fixation with Abhay as normal. It isn't. It makes her do things that are equal to stabbing Abhay in the heart a zillion times. Provoke him – push him – hurt him – deceive him – play hook, play crook – do anything that the angels and demons permit – JUST. GET. HIM. I no longer have an opinion on Piya as far as her mechanics and shenanigans and schemes with Abhay are concerned – you cannot judge her . Because no matter how low she goes – it's always for Abhay and with the most intense and passionate of love. Her love is not only selfless , it is aggressive.
Today , Abhay was with her – to look after her , to guard her , to reassure her that he is never going to leave her alone. Calmed her , comforted her , put her to sleep and sat by her side. Is that enough for Piya? No. It isn't. It is not Abhay's company , proximity or affection that she wants. SHE WANTS ABHAY. Abhay and her – till eternity and to the end of the world. But something and someone stand between her and Abhay. Abhay's reality and Abhay's bond with Maithli. So, as Piya watches a sleeping Abhay lovingly , she assures him, promises him that she is ready to face any reality , any truth – her love for him is that powerful . She is dying to embrace him with his scars. And for that , once AGAIN, she must play a game with Abhay. She conveys to him that she is repeating her mistake but the 'GET ABHAY' addiction and obsession overrules and overrides everything.
And , inspite of knowing , inspite of experiencing , inspite of repenting , Piya, once again taken over by the obsession of getting Abhay in her life , plays Abhay's most sensitive card – MAITHLI. Last time, it was about impersonating Maithli and this time, it was about repeating and reliving Metz' tragic death and sending horrors and shivers down Abhay's spine.
Remember the Maithli history episode? The narration of Metz' saga by the royal guard was ended abruptly and we saw Piya standing in front of Metz' portrait. Today , that chunk was shown as a flashback and we were brought to the spot in the jungle where Maithli was locked and burnt alive by her father. And that is where Piya stepped . Stepped into Metz' grave – using Metz' grave , her death , her memory to know Abhay's truth and bring herself to embrace him with his history…….Piya seemed to tell Metz presence that where Metz lost Abhayendra , Piya will get him. Write hers and Abhay's story on the pages that Metz left behind. Yeah, these were her words.
Abhay? Oh well. Piya didn't have to do anything – she didn't have to set herself afire or invite the wild animals to come and have her for dessert. The very visual that Piya was standing on the spot where his and Metz' lives had ended was enough to take Abhay back a 200 years – and the man blindly running towards Metz death spot , screaming Piya's name and shouting that the spot is ill-fated and cursed – that wasn't Abhay. That man was Abhayendra who was being put through that fire , that grief , that panic , that horror once more – all over again . Just because this teenager wants to know his little secret.
ChaandEena . Hmmm. Vampires on duty. Nothing else. Monsters behaving like monsters and protecting the clan but they can feel Abhay slipping away. We came to know today that in all probability, Chaand and Haseena witnessed the end of AMetz and Chaand, a vampire gave life to Abhay – perhaps by turning him into one. So, they have known Abhay all along – for 200 years.
On a side note, when I saw Piya's terror , horror and disgust in the precap over Abhay's vampire identity , I was reminded of this scene in my FF where Piya cringes and cowers from the very sight of Abhay . Sambhav ,a werewolf comes to see her and asks her that where did all that powerful and irrevocable love for Abhay that she swore by go? And similarly , if and when Piya reacts to Abhay like that , no matter how much the audience tries to understand Piya's situation as a human being , they will ask her the same question. Woman, you have eaten a 100 dialogue copies belting out those cheesy lines to Abhay . Time to act on them . Can you?
In TVD, when Elena found out that Stefan is a vampire – she too had this look of subtle horror , bated breath and disgust on her face.
Elena : What are you?
Stefan ( without batting and eyelid)- A vampire.
And no matter how far Elena ran , all roads led back to Stefan because her fear and disgust were kicked out of the window by her love for him.
Point being that Piya's reaction is natural and human. No matter what she thought and no matter she imagined Abhay to be a vampire – IMAGINING something is one thing and LIVING it is another. First ,she only guessed the fact but now she has been slapped with it. First , she needs to get a hang of herself , get her nerves back in place – only then, we can ask her this :
So, Piya? All that love , feelings , dedication , surrender and promises that you have been giving Abhay and swearing by them now stand under fire. You promised him a happily-ever-after , didn't you? You can die for him , right? You don't care who he is or what he is – you are just irrevocably in love with him, hmmmm? Your life is Abhay's, eh? Great. Sounded very good all along and we wrote such poetic posts on your lyrical declarations and proclamations of 'true' love for Abhay. Now, PROVE IT TO HIM and us. Hope you find the courage , the heart , the beauty and the surreal devotion that Belle had when she fell in love with a beast and gave two hoots about his claws and his canines.
Fairytales don't come on silver platters. Every girl who has had a fairytale has fought for it with her life and only she knows it.
P.S- I don't like the way Metz' memory and the AMetz chapter is played with just to push AbhIya's story further.No matter what we say in support of Piya , it comes across as insensitive on screen and very harsh on Abhay. Metz is not a playing card , for heaven's sake!
