Bani calls Jai, mere pyare pati, she calls him her darling husband….man, Jai's face was priceless to look at….Bani gives it to Jai, gives it real good today…Jai is just speechless with shock and looks as if he could murder Bani right here, right now! Kudos to you Bani, that's the way to go!
Poor Dadi is sitting alone in the Living Room and crying. Bani comes down, she is getting ready to go somewhere, and she sees Dadi. Bani goes to her and asks her why is the Dadi who is always smiling so sad today. Dadi wipes her tears and tells her that what else one can do in a house where the son of the house has changed so much. As Bani also gets emotional, she sits near Dadi and tells her that one day everything will be alright and that at times in our pain and distress, our mind ceases to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong and Jai is going through the same phase. Bani says that she doesn't want to see Dadi cry ever again and she is one of the reasons that Bani is able to live in the house, else she would have broken down a long time back. Dadi wipes her tears and tells Bani that she should never talk such things, she is after all the "Bahu" of this house and family and if there is any hope for love and happiness ever returning in here, then it is only because of Bani. Dadi and Bani then change the topic and joke about the party tonight where Dadi tell Bani that she will wear the same outfit Rani Mukhejree wore in Bunty aur Babli…Bani then takes leave of Dadi and goes out.
Bani comes in to meet Mohan who looks very happy to see her and tells her to take a seat. Bani asks her about Pia and Pushkar and Mohan tells her that till they get married, they are both his responsibility and that she should not worry about them. Bani looks completely gratified and thanks Mohan for all his help, Mohan brushes it off and tells her that what are friends for. Mohan then tells Bani that once Pia and Pushkar get married, Bani should set her life straight, Bani just looks at Mohan when he says that. Bani says that Jai is not able to understand that love does not follow any protocols and rules and that it just follows its own course, whatever happened was destiny, Pia and Pushkar were meant to be and that by trying to hurt them now, Jai is only bringing more pain to himself. As Bani says this, her eyes look very pained and she looks pretty distressed.
Mohan looks at Bani very affectionately and tells her "Pyar ke rishte apne aap ban jaate hai, who kisi ke bhi mohtaj nahin hote, aur ek din Jai bhi yeh baat samajh jaayega"…Mohan's gem to Bani today where he tells her that love makes its bonds itself and one day even Jai will understand this fact! Bani face lights up radiantly with hope as Mohan says that….Yipee, Mohan supports Jai and Bani's relationship, just like Dadi!
Simultanelously they show Jai coming to Mohan's office and getting into a heated argument with his secretary because she refuses to let him in as he has some guests over. Jai is furious and tells the girl that how dare she stop him, does she know who he is. The girl looks scared but tells him that its Mohan's orders she is following. Jai tells her to get lost and says that he does not wait for anyone and certainly needs no appointment to meet his friend. Jai just walks inside Mohan's office and is completely taken aback when he sees Bani getting up to leave. Bani almost faints with fear, Jai is really angry now and comes to her and asks her what the hell is she doing in Mohan's office. Bani almost tremble under Jai's anger and tells him halteringly that she came to invite him for the party tonight. Jai is pretty irritated and tells her that he gave her the job of arranging the party and not inviting his friends. As Mohan looks on embarssed by Jai insulting Bani infront of her, Jai who could be least bothered, tells Bani that from now onwards, she dare not make relations with his friends and she should not forget her place in his life and his house. Jai tells her to go back and concentrate on the party arrangement and next time she should not meet any of his friends without his prior permission! Bani just keeps her eyes down and walks out slowly, while Mohan gives an exasperated look at Jai!
The party is in full swing and everyone's eyes are on Mrs. and Mr. Walia. The Camera zooms on Jai and Bani coming down from upstairs…Jai looking very dashing in a black formal suit and Bani looking spectacularly beautiful in a peach colored chiffon sari with some heavy diamond jewellery. (Prachi Desai has never looked so pretty before, she was quite stunning today!) Everyone begins clapping, Jai who was looking serious till now breaks into a very cheerful and fake smile while Bani has her eyes downcast and is looking mortified with fear. One of the photographers requests Jai to pose with Bani and Jai very lovingly and forcibly puts his hand around Bani's shoulder, she does not react in any way apart from looking very scared and awkward. Jai then gives a sugary sweet look at Bani and tells, "Come darling, I will introduce you to everyone." Bani just follows him like Mary's Little Lamb.
Elsewhere Dadi is gossping with some of her friends and Ranveer and Jigyasa come by and make a snide comment that their Dadi is pretty filmy, for which, Lolz…Dadi calls Ranveer a Dhongi….and really makes fun of Jiggy!!! Both Ranveer and Jigs are effectively silenced! Lolz…Dadi rocks…she is so damn cute!
Kis se kare shikeve, waqt woh na aaya, aankhen bichaya hum saaya…someone complete this guys, I couldn't catch the whole thing, but it was beautiful!
Bani is standing alone looking absolutely desolate and lonely, and the background song which I have mentioned above plays as Bani looks lost in the crowd.
Jai is standing with some Business associates of his and his eyes fall on Bani, he keeps looking at her…with a very strange glare, she doesn't see him though….Jai then goes to her and catches her arms, Bani is jolted out of her reverie. Jai brings her close to him (Ooh, this guy can be so romantic in the most unlikely manner at times!) and says bitingly into her ears that what does she mean by standing alone in the party and looking so miserable. Bani is not unable to answer and keeps standing with down-cast eyes. Jai then says that what does she want people to think that her husband does not love her (how ironical is that now?) As Jai says this, Bani looks at Jai's face with a very sad expression on her face, Jai is unmoved. Jai then drags her with him, literally, and introduces her to some of his friends. One of them comments that he is really lucky to have found such a beautiful and loving wife. Jai gives a really sarcastic look at Bani and smiles in a very business like manner at the man and tells him that he is indeed very lucky to have Bani in his life, not only as his wife but also as his employee. Jai then tells the people present that Bani is handling the Mount Abu Project for him and he is sure that she will make a success out of it the way she has made a successful wife out of herself. Bani looks completely downcast and embarrassed, as Jai is unrelentingly staring at her. Jai then tells her menacingly to mix around with people and not stand like a statue in one place, as usual Bani does not react and is silent.
Bani is then shown standing alone once again, looking completely lost and forelone, when Jigyasa is shown noticing her, she is with a group of her high-society ladies. Jiggy gets a wicked look on her face and tells the women that she will introduce them to her "Bhabhi". Poor Bani is once again dragged by Jigs and then she introduces Bani as her Bhabhi and Mrs. Jai Walia to her group. One of the women comments that Mrs. Walia is very pretty to look at and that Jai must be madly in love with her. Jiggy gets a really thrilled and crafty smile on her face, as Bani turns scarlet with embarrassment and has her eyes permanently downcast. Another woman then says that Jai must be completely besotted with Bani and be at her beck and call the whole day; after all they had a love marriage. Bani looks completely miserable at this statement and is just unable to react in any manner except looking uncomfortable and ill at ease. Jigs very sarcastically and with lots of enthusiasm says that Jai is madly in love with Bani, infact so much so, that he cannot live without seeing her for even a moment and that she is really amazed that Jai is not already missing her. All the women begin giggling and Bani looks completely embarrassed and goes away rushing from the group with her head down. Jigyasa looks thrilled and comments that, "Bechari Bhabhi, Bhaiyaa ka naam sun kar sharma gayi…"
Jai then goes to the podium and with great enthusiasm and very cheerfully announces that he threw this party for the commencement of the Mount Abu Project and that he is more happy about the fact that its his "darling and most loved wife" Bani Walia who is handling the entire project. Bani is standing right in front of Jai, along with Ranveer who looks totally gleeful! Jai then says not only is his wife a beautiful woman along with being a wonderful wife, she has also been very lucky for him and that its because of her that he got this Mount Abu Project from where she belongs also. Jai then says that without wasting any more time, he wants his wife to come over to the stage and explain in detail to everyone present how she felt getting her own house broken down which her Father had built and getting a Casino in its place for her husband. Jai then says very cheerfully, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, my wife, Bani Walia."
Bani is shown walking slowly towards the podium, with her eyes down but there is a confidence in the way she goes to Jai. Both of them face each other, Jai who is much taller and bigger than Bani looks very overpowering in front of her while Bani looks very dimutive and docile. Jai gives a malicious and devious smile to Bani who keeps looking at him with an unwavering, unflinching look, her eyes reflect no hatred and no anger, only a deep calm and a new confidence. Jai hands over the mike in Bani's hand who takes one deep sigh and turns towards the audience.
Best Bani scene till date:
Bani says that before going on to explain anything regarding the projects, she wants to thank her "Pyare Pati" for giving her so much of love and affection and making her his wife, Mrs. Bani Walia. Bani says that one day someone had told her (referring to Jai) that Houses are not made of memories, its our hearts which hold them and a house breaking down does not mean that the memories of it will also go with them. It is so true and that was the statement which gave her the strength to see a Casino built over the place which was one day her house. Bani says that the house was built by her Father and even though today it has been broken down into pieces, the memories that she shared with her Father and her family will always reside in her heart, no one can take them away from her, ever.
Bani then says that she is thrilled to handle the Casino Project for Mount Abu, especially as it is Jai's dream project and like every good wife she wants to see her husband's dream come true. But she also wants to make an announcement that the space lying vacant near the Casino is to be built as an Orphanage by Jai, in the name of Bani's Father's name, as a token of his memory. Bani says that she can never thank Jai enough for this gesture and that he has truly proved to be an excellent husband and a wonderful human being.
Everyone breaks into an enthusiastic applause, as Jai's face turns ashen grey, first with the shock of Bani's rebellious statement and then with anger at her calm demeanor! Both Jigyasa and Ranveer at first were looking thrilled to bits at Bani being insulted by Jai, but after this announcement, their faces are as fallen as Jai's!
Summary and Comments:
Jai going from bad to worse : I thought that Jai's redeeming factor was that at least he did not insult Bani in front of anyone, he really gives her a ticking off in Mohan's office today…and looks least repentant!
Bani, the Beautiful one : The most amazing thing about this whole scene in which Bani stands in the podium to speak to the guests, was the manner in which Bani goes about the whole thing. She is absolutely unfazed and remains serene and calm, and has no sarcasm in her voice….unlike Jai. Definitely Prachi's stand-out performance till date and also she has never looked so stunning before!
Mohan should make Jai go green with envy : Mohan and Bani have already embarked on a friendship and Jai's reaction as he sees Bani in Mohan's office indicated that somewhere along with anger, he also felt a little insecure….hmmm, this should be interesting!
Mere Pyaare Pati / My Darling Husband : Lolz, of all the thing, I never expected Bani to ever counter attack Jai in this manner….the look on Jai's face was totally priceless when she address's him as "Mere Pyaare Pati" and then calls him her "Darling Husband"….and that too without any mockery or scorn, she speaks naturally and with emotion, shaking Jai out of his arrogance in one go!
Mrs. and Mr. Walia, meant to be forever! : Two things indicated that Jai and Bani are just meant to be. One Dadi calls Bani the "Bahu" of this house and also the only hope for love and happiness every coming back into the Walia House…and then Mohan indicates to Bani that love will form its own bond and one day Jai will understand that…..
Performance Barometer: For a change, Prachi Desai took charge today, she was marvelous…natural, effortless and extremely endearing! Ram Kapoor was brilliant as usual, but I am getting a little jittery about his permanent smirk and snarling at Bani…although in some of the scenes where he is shown laughing very naturally with some of his friends, he looks very handsome! Kamal Sadanah was the surprise package today, he shined in the short scene he had with Bani! And lolz…Dadi really knows how to set Ranveer and Jiggy to their place! I don't want to see Dadi cry ever!
Fast Forward : Debojit performing on Tanhayee tomorrow and waiting to see Jai's reaction to Bani's surprise announcement!
