😭Jai enters the room where Bani is waiting; she is obviously not expecting him and is frozen to the spot with fear when she sees him with the Doctor. Jai keeps looking at her without ever taking his eyes of her face and she is just not able to face him…he doesn't look angry or anything, but his eyes are burning with rage. The Doctor very cheerfully tells Bani that what a coincidence that both Husband and Wife are in the same Hospital and that she does not have to worry about anything now, Jai will sign the required papers and all the formalities will be taken care of. The doctor gets the papers to sign and that is the only time that Jai takes his eyes of Bani and signs them, and again reverts his unflinching stare at Bani, who looks ready to die any moment of fright. The Doctor leaves both of them alone, but not before commenting that they are both a wonderful couple and may God bless them. Both Bani and Jai do not take their eyes of each other, one with hatred, and the other with anxiety and fear.
As soon as the doctor goes shutting the door behind him, Jai is furious with anger and tells Bani in a cold, sharp tone that how dare she make use of his name for her purpose? Bani replies back steadily that she did make use of his name but for saving a child, not for herself. Jai is extremely angry now and says that he had paid Sheetal Sen 1 crore rupees to get out of the town; Bani not only used his name to save her child but made Sheetal Sen go against him. Bani keeps staring, as Jai who is livid with anger tells her that if Bani can go to any lengths to protect Pia, then Jai can go to any lengths to destroy Pia and that today Bani has also sided with Pia and Pushkar to be against Jai and now his war is with all the three of them. Bani is now openly crying and is unable to face Jai's wrath as he looks at her with naked hatred.
The next scene shows Jai and Bani both coming to Walia House where everyone is seated in the drawing room, Jigs, Ranveer, Aditya and his mom. As soon as both of them come, Ranveer goes upto Jai and very respectfully asks him about the party they are going to throw for the launch of the Mount Abu project. While he says that, Ranveer gives a sly look at Bani, who is already looking super-depressed. Jai catches Ranveer's expression and in a very cruel and un-Jai like fashion tells Ranveer that he wants Bani to handle the entire Party arrangements as it is her project (What a meanie!). Bani's eyes immediately well up and she is unable to utter a single word, she just gives one pleading look at Jai, who is in no mood to relent and tells Bani in a very cold and severe tone that he wants her to arrange the entire Party the way he likes them to be and that there should be no hitch in it. Jai tells her that it is Bani's pet project to see a Casino built in place of her Mount Abu house and that he wants her to enjoy every moment of that whole project and hence tomorrow's party should be entirely Bani's responsibility. Bani just keep quiet while Ranveer and Jigs look thrilled with happiness over Jai's obvious hurt to Bani😭
Jai then looks at everyone and tells them in his usual dominating manner that he wants to be left alone with Bani, so please disperse. Since he is the King of the Manor, everyone promptly leaves them alone (they are still in the living room) and then starts, Jai's most horrible side that I have seen till date in Kasamh Se.
Jai with his tone down, but in a cold, sharp and extremely cutting manner tells Bani that she is always so concerned about Pia, her emotions, her feelings, about her best friend Pushkar and her Mount Abu House ect, isn't it? Has she ever given a thought to what Jai has gone through till date? Has she ever thought that Pia who walked away so ruthlessly from his life has left him a lifeless man. Jai says that because of Pia, people got the oppourtinity to lift their fingers at him, questioned his masculinity and he had to give an explanation and justification to the whole World. Did Bani ever give a thought to what Jai has gone through since the day Pia walked out on him. As Bani is stunned and rooted to the spot where she is standing, her eyes are filled with a deep pain and she keeps crying continuously. Jai is just getting more vicious and more hurtful as he then tells Bani that what values and principals is she talking about, what she knows about honor and name. As Bani listens in shock, Jai tells her very menacingly that, just look at your family and look at the values instilled in them. One sister ran out of her would be husband on the day of her marriage and the other promptly replaced her, knowing that Jai was in love with Pia. Jai accuses Bani of being a hypocrite and tells her that does she even know anything about her family background. As Bani listens in growing horror and grief, Jai calls her Father an alcoholic and a thief and tells Bani that he took a loan to pay off his gambling debts and was a loser all his life and that these are the kind of values and beliefs she and her sisters have inherited from her Family. 😡
Bani is unable to bear the hurt and pain that Jai is pouring on her and with great difficulty, she tells him to put a stop to this and that he has all the right to call Bani anything he wants to, she is ready to face ever insult and accusation, but he has no right to call her dead Father a thief. Jai is absolutely unfazed and even angrier that Bani dared to stop him (though unlike Jai, Bani does not even raise her voice, infact she rather pleads with him crying all through!) and further insults her by saying that it's a fact that her Father was a thief and that her family background is low and menial and that is why Pia has done something like this. Jai then says that come what he will make Pia and Pushkar pay for what they have done to him, Jai says that it is Pia who has made an animal out of him and now she will know what it means to stand against Jai Walia. Jai says that he will do anything in the World to stop Pia and Pushkar from getting married; he will go to any extent. And if anyone comes in between to stop him, he will destroy that person also along with Pia and Pushkar. Jai then calls up someone on the phone and orders him that as soon as Pushkar is released out of the Jail, he wants him in front of his eyes, do anything but get that boy to me. Bani looks dead with fright but is just too broken to say anything more and completely break down crying. Jai gives her a victorious look and walks away from the room, leaving shattered and broken Bani alone….😭
You know what really stood apart in this whole sequence, apart from Jai's merciless slaughter of Bani's feelings and emotions, is the fact that Bani looks most aggrieved when Jai accuses her of being insensitive and unknowing of his feelings...Bani looks most dejected when Jai tells her that has she ever cared about how hurt he is.....what does Jai know?😭 Bani cares like hell for him, inspite of all the immense amount of pain he makes her go through.....
Pia is in the Police Station waiting for Pushkar to get released and she asks the Inspector how long will she have to wait, the Inspector tells her that they are awaiting the Court orders to come. Just then Pushkar walks out of the lock-up and Pia is thrilled to bits and hugs him with joy. As they come out of the Police Station, Bani is standing outside and with great emotion in her eyes she tells both of them that she cannot tell how happy she is to see both of them together and that may God always keep them together like this. Pushkar and Pia are overwhelmed, just then some goons come by and try to take away Pushkar. Suddenly, a Car stops by and a guy waves them to come inside, Pushkar immediately sprints away Bani and Pia and gets inside the Car with them. As the Car goes a little ahead, we get to know that its Mohan Khandelwal who has saved the day. Bani thanks Mohan, who tells asks them who were these guys who were trying to take away Pushkar. Bani looks totally downcast and does not reply and Pushkar tells Mohan that they were Jai Sir's men. Mohan is aghast and says that he cannot believe that Jai can ever use physical force of this kind to get against anybody. Bani looks really ashamed and tells Mohan, that Jai is really angry and in his hatred, he himself doesn't know what he is doing (This girl is too much, even after all that Jai told her, she still defends him…) Mohan looks very worried and tells Bani not to worry and that Pia and Pushkar can stay at his Outhouse till Jai's anger cools off but they should get married immediately. Bani looks very happy and thanks Mohan for his help and tells him that she has to now go home and requests him to drop her midway.
What I really find amazing and confusing about Bani is that even after Jai gives her hell at home and everywhere he can, she still calls his house her home....always, it is never Mr. Walia's house, it is always her home!
As Bani goes inside her room, she sees Jai screaming on the phone and asking the guy how could Pushkar get away and that he is going to kill him for letting Pushkar go away. Jai then tells the guy to get Pushkar to him, dead or alive. Jai throws the phone in anger and then his eyes fall on Bani who is still standing outside, but this time she does not look scared of him, but steadily looks at him in his eyes.
Jai completely looses his temper at the sight of Bani and tells her that if she thinks Pia and Pushkar can hide from Jai Walia, then they are so wrong, he will find them from any corner of the Earth, not even God can protect them. Jai says that if his love for someone is powerful enough to give that person a life, then his hatred is more powerful than his love and can destroy everything in sight. Bani is calm and serene and tells Jai very softly that no one has the power to destroy or protect anyone, that power only resides with the almighty. Bani says that hatred never got anyone anywhere and by venting out his fury on Pia and Pushkar, Jai is only bringing more pain for himself and that this hatred will first and foremost destroy Jai himself.
Jai is all the more incensed with Bani's calm reply and tells her, "Oh Shut up" with great irritation. Jai says that he will do anything he can to stop Pia and Pushkar's marriage and he will see who can stop him from doing this. Jai says that by Monday, he will wriggle out both of the cowards from the snake hole they are hiding in. Bani is now angry but without loosing her temper tells Jai that if he do anything to stop the marriage, she will do anything to make the marriage happen and that Pia and Pushkar will get married on the coming Monday itself, Jai can do what ever he feels like. Jai keeps looking at Bani with a murderous rage in his eyes and Bani serenely stares back at him.
Bani is shown in Rano's room taking out some papers from the Almirah (or was it clothes?) looking extremely beautiful in a red and white sleeveless suit. Rano comes behind Bani and asks her if she is going to Mr. Khandelwal's house for getting the arrangements for Pia and Pushkar's marriage in place, Bani replies in the affirmative. Rano breaks down crying and tells her that she had never imagined that she would not be there for her own sister's marriage and that she misses Pia so much! Bani also becomes very emotional, Rano says that Mr. Walia's hatred has given so much of pain to all the three of them and that today they are not able to participate in each other's happiness because of him. Bani tells Rano that no matter how much Mr. Walia hates the three of us and tries to separate us, he can never separate the love that we share and that no matter what, we will always be there for one another. Rano then takes out a pair of beautiful earrings and tells Bani to give them to Pia to wear it on her wedding. Rano tells Bani that Pia and she had fought a lot for them and finally Pia had to give them to Rano, today she wants to give it back to Pia as a gift. Bani and Rano break down crying and hug one another.
Summary and Comments:
Hum Saath Saath Hain : I found the whole Bani, Pia and Pushkar sequence just outside the Police Station to be very emotional and the last sequence between Bani and Rano just brought out the tears in me! It was extremely well picturized and both Bani and Rano acted superbly….it was very moving and touched the core of you heart. I loved the line that Bani tells Rano, that no matter how much physical distance Mr. Walia tries to bring in between the three of them, he can never separate the love that exists in their heart….it was just beautiful.
Hatred begets only Pain and nothing else : Jai did nothing else but insult, demean, hurt and make Bani cry today…I simply couldn't believe that Jai could be capable of so much hatred…and the words which he chooses today were just too much to digest. Hurting Bani was one thing, in that he already has a doctorate, but demeaning her Father who is no more was the last straw….wonder what Jai thinks he is going to achieve from this. The worst part was the immense amount of pain he was going through while saying these insensitive, unforgiving and merciless things to Bani….but Jai seems to have forgotten that by hurting Bani, Pia and Pushkar in this manner, he is doing the maximum harm to himself.
Bani, the epitome of endurance and fortitude: Bani is truly an amazing character, not because she is this ideal Indian woman putting up with everything that her husband makes her go through, but simply because of the immense amount of personal dignity she has in herself and the amount of dignity she gives to others. Despite everything that Jai pours on her, and he does by Joe, he really does today; she listens to him quietly and only replies back when he insults her Father…and that too without raising her voice or counter-accusing him. Bani is so calm and so serene, that one day or the other, Jai will realize that his anger against her is like the merciless waves of the Ocean which keeps crashing against the boulders, but they stand still…..its the waves which go back into the Ocean again!
Mohan Mithaiwalla to the rescue: Ok, as much as I am irritated by Pia and Pushkar, I think that Jai is being quite pig-headed now regarding them; he should just let them be. I really liked the way Mohan helps both of them and is now getting them married, although he very well knows how furious Jai is going to be when he comes to know of it. But as he tells Bani that even though Jai is his best friend, what he is doing now is wrong and someone has got to take a stand against him, else his all consuming hatred will first and foremost destroy Jai himself.
Bani's resilience and Jai's vehemence: Finally Bani does give a reply to Jai in the second outburst scene they have in their room. When Jai tells her that he his hatred will never let Pia and Pushkar get married, Bani calmly replies back that her belief will help them get married at any cost…and for the first time, Jai is unable to give a fitting reply back.
Performance Barometer : Once again, Ram Kapoor outshines himself. He is classic in the scenes where he is supposed to be really murderous with rage and comes into his true element. Here is an actor of a superior caliber who gets something new to every scene he enacts…previously in his outburst scenes with Bani, there was a pain and emotion in his eyes, today there was only hatred and anger and nothing else. Amazing,flawless performance, totally first rate. Prachi Desai is surely going places, she is an actress of unlimited ability and the dignity and panache she puts into her Bani is surely admirable, considering she is barely out of her teens. Her calm reply to Jai's oceanic anger is just so effective, if he is fire, she is water, if he is the storm, she is the cool breeze, if he is hatred, she is love….perfect chemistry between them, just perfect! No one in Kasamh Se even comes near both of them in terms of chemistry and performance!
Fast Forward : Dadi is shown crying and telling Bani that she had never imagine her Jai to ever become like this and a person who was so full of love and warmth has turned into a monster in his hatred for Pia and Pushkar. Bani is shown crying and looking very hurt and dejected….
