Why kill kesar?

I dont find any reason / logic behind killing of kesar. The supposed reason is that it will clear the path for Shakti to have YKW as the only wife. But what the SS / KN are doing is that they are going to kill kesar silently and for the rest of the world it is going to look like she has gone to maike.

How does it matter whether kesar is in TN or in Maike. she will continue to be the first wife and Shakti-YKW marriage will be illegal still.

The easiest way would have been to make kesar sign on a divorce. kesar is not going to object to that in any way.

The only reason i could think of is that kalpana bora is quitting the show and hence need to close the character. And probably some way to put shakti behind bars.
