BY THE usual yardstick, Shilpa Shinde comes across as different. Simply because, this television actress says she is "not interested in film roles." A little more conversation takes you to the fact that the lady is talking from her experiences. It is not that she had not tasted the waters. Having acted in a Hindi film which never hit the screen, a Telugu film under her belt and a Marathi film on its way to release, Shilpa seems not to have a pleasant experience with the big screen. And with ready acceptance coming her way from small screen, the Mumbaiite has no time to look back now. "I am getting good roles in TV serials. So why worry?" she tries to lighten you up instead. Having started off with a DD1 serial Ms India, then to Bhabhi as Manju and also in Hatim on Star Plus, she seems to have got a firm foothold now with her latest tube appearance as Chitra in the prime time serial on Star Plus, Sanjeevani, A Medical Boon. "Chitra's role no doubt is different from the other roles I did on TV. While as Chitra, I am a very good human being, as Manju in Bhabhi, I am just the opposite," the actress seems to like the range of television roles. "But the flip side of it is, I am not getting any marriage proposals because of enacting Manju's role. Recently, I got a proposal only to be shot down by an auntyji who watches Bhabhi. It is a backhand compliment for me but my mother is increasingly getting fidgety about it," Shilpa laughs narrating it. Being the first one to land up in professional acting, this daughter of a Mumbai advocate says, she had to coax her family to allow her to get into acting.Though Chitra's role is the most satisfying so far, she says, she has not met anybody so nice from every angle in reality. "But I believe in humanity. People have both white and grey shades. You have to count the degree," she begins to compare this with television programmes which show incidents of rape, terrorism, violent wordings etc. "It is for you to see whether the situation shown is relevant to the story and where it is not. The success of a show is in showing something which is close to reality." Intelligent talking we say.
