Divya Dutta is quite like her character Shanno from Shanno Ki Shaadi. Both love to dream. And now, one of Divya's dreams to have a house of her own is going to become a reality. Her dream house in Juhu will be nearing completion and the actress intends to move into it shortly.
"I've been putting this house together brick by brick and now when it's ready, I feel so proud," says Divya.
Along with her new home, Divya also starts work on a new feature film directed by Manish Gupta and stars Irrfan Khan and Om Puri.
Besides Shanno Ki Shaadi, Divya has only two other serials to her credit -— Kadam and Vinta Nanda's Sansar. "Television is a rewarding medium but only if done sparingly. I've done three serials and I've enjoyed doing each one of them. I can't see myself doing 23 dailies. It will burn me out. The trick of being liked on the home medium is to remain exclusive."
While talking about television, Divya is all praise for her Shanno…co-star Vikas Bhalla. "We flirt, laugh, joke and pull each other's legs all the time. I think it's very important to get along with your co-star. I don't think Shanno would've worked so well if it wasn't for the chemistry I share with Vikas. I've done films where co-stars have made my life miserable," she says.
How has the Shanno experience been? "I love the challenge of doing comedy because on the large-screen, I'm perceived as a serious actress. It's fun to escape into the fairy-tale world of Shanno."
Strangely, Divya's most memorable characters on television and film have been Shanno and the similar-sounding Shabbo, Preity Zinta's maid in Yash Chopra's Veer-Zara. "And now in my new Punjabi film Waris Shah (which is the most expensive film to be made in Punjabi) I play a character called Sabo."
