PYAAR KI JODI
True Love

Posted online: Friday, April 07, 2006 at 0000 hours IST

Two very distinct characters meet and remember the parts. They realise that they were unable to unite in their last birth. Thinking that life has given them another chance to fulfill their unreciprocated love they hope to give it a try. This in short is the theme of Pyaar Ke Do Naam, Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, a story of Kisan and Shyaama, who in the story depicted in the 60s, get entangled in the treacherous move of fate, when the evil in the garb of Kunwar (head of the village) plays havoc with their love and life. In their present life too, born as Shyaam and Raadha, they realize their eternal love and longing for each other. However, once again fate has something else in store for them... Kisan (Indraneil Sengupta) is a very sensitive and responsible person. He is the only one besides Dada Thakur's son Kunwar ( Sandeep Bhansali) who has studied in the city and comes back after finishing his education after six years. He is loved by the whole lot of villagers including Dada Thakur (Ramesh Deo) who considers Kisan as his second son. Apart from his love of playing the piano, Kisan is a good painter and loves to be among nature. Kisna has always been in love with Shyaama as they grew up together. Even though he loves her, Kisan loves to tease and make fun of Shyaama. He very knows very well that beneath Shyaama's mischievous nature is a woman with the heart of gold. Shyaama, ( Barkha Bisht) a typical village belle, is tomboyish, naughty and fond of teasing others and not very educated. Daughter of a tangewala Shyaama loves Kisan but never admits the same. She hopes that Kisan understands what she is trying to say but Kisan, being always playful, pretends ignorance. This would drive Shyaama mad. Kunwar is Dada Thakur's only son. Though Kisan is his childhood friend, Kunwar considers him nothing more than a servant. Dada Thakur himself cannot believe the way Kunwar has grown up to be a selfish and inconsiderate human being. Kunwar's intentions about women is also bad. The women in the village always cover their faces in front of both the father and son Kunwar but he had seen Shyaama and has now set his eyes set on her, so much so that he goes to an extent to get her...
In this birth Shyaam is the son of a very rich businessman, a very happy-go-lucky man with absolutely no sense of responsibility while Raadha, a girl grom a humble middle-class family is an aspiring doctor. She is a very strong and determined personality who does not forgive easily. Raadha wants to practice in a village as she cannot forget the death of her mother when she was very young. Fate helps meet Shyaam and Raadha who instantly feel that they are made for each other. But evil again sets in and has something else in store for the mad-in-love couple. Based on the mystical concept of reincarnation, this love story is the journey of the two souls that results into a drama of heart-tugging moments, longing, novel relationships, craving and sacrifice. "The subject of reincarnation always fascinated me. I must not have missed any film on the subject having seen Bees Saal Baad,Sonaar Kella, Madhumati,Milan,Mehbooba, Naya Daur etc. Given the story idea we did eight months of research. I have treated this pure love story musically that is always the case of a film on reincarnation. Technically too, I have used an unique concept while joining the story of the present to the past. When on a particular location I panned the shot denoting the transition from the present to the past or vice versa, my artsites would hurriedly go behind the camera, change themselves and within those 30-40 seconds came before the camera in the attire that was required for the scene depicting the past," says director Kaushik Ghatak, adding, "the colour tone made all the difference." The music by Navin-Manish are both melodious and haunting."Let the serial come on air and I am sure they would get very busy. There are many songs-different songs for every occasion (bhajans, dosti songs, romantic songs and even inspirational songs). Many songs have a number of versions. Normally, in a serial, songs are played in the background to which artistes enact. For the first time I have used lip-sync of not only the lead characters but of other characters in the serial, adds Ghatak. With its unique portrayal of romantic and engaging moments Pyaar Ke Do Naam, Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, a Rajshri Production, Star Plus has started airing from Monday-Thursday nights at 8 pm from April 3. http://www.screenindia.com/fullstory.php?content_id=12350
