Part 8

Maan reached college. Nothing was visible, rain seemed to be gathering speed instead of slowing down. He stopped the car beside the security guard cabin and rolled down the window. Then, put his hand on the horn, eventually the security guard peered from the window. He appeared as he had been dozing.

The guard noticed the expensive car, he put on the rain coat and came out toward the car.

Guard,''yes sir?''

Maan,''i came looking for geet khaurana, she is a student here. There was some problem and I couldn't pick her up on time.

Guard,''but sir everyone is gone. I took a round earlier around the campus to check if anyone was left inside but no one is left.''

Maan,''but she has not arrived home.''

Guard,''may be she went to some friends home.''

Maan,''no I have already checked with all her friends.''

Guard,''sir I told you no one is inside the campus.''

Maan,''i want to check campus myself.''

Guard,''sir that is not possible, I can't allow you to do that and anyway its raining really heavily, how can we...''

Maan cut him off and got out of the car in the rain. ''I don't care. Don't you understand what I am saying? A student is missing. She is new to this city and don't know the bus routes to home. She didn't went home with any of her friends. She got to be here somewhere on campus.

Guard,''but sir...

Maan,''enough. Is there any other reason you are not letting me search the campus? ''

guard noticed that the guy was geeting really angry. ''ok , come with me and search campus yourself.''

Geet shrieked loudly.

Armaan removed his hand from her shoulder and held his both hands up. ''calm down, I called you 2-3 times but you seemed lost in thought.''

geet moved more closer to the door, not removing her eyes from him. Her heart was beating very fast from the scare she had got.

Armaan,''do you want to come inside, my grand pa is inside or I can go and get the address.''

Geet who had started shaking her head in no at the start of his sentence said,''no you go and get it. Please hurry, my family will be getting really worried.''

Armaan,''ok.''

he got out of the car and went inside.

Geet waited for him to come back thinking why didn't driver came today. She hoped everything was

al right.

Armaan came back but he was not alone. His grandfather was with him. They came to her side of car. Armaan's grandfather opened the door, geet scooted back from the door to which she was clinging.

Grandpa,''hello beta. Armaan told me everything. There is no need to be worried. I know savitari devi very well. I will take you home my self.''

Geet felt herself relaxing at the gentle words and kind eyes of this old man. She smiled at him. The old man's smile blossomed further and he put his hand on her head and gently patted her on head. ''now that everything is solved, you come inside and have a cup of coffee with me, something tells me that we are going to be great friends and don't worry I will call savitari and tell her that you are with me.

Geet,''but I want to go home. I will come some other time.''

Grand pa,''ok but you have to promise me that you will come back to meet me.''

Geet smiled,''promise.''

Guard,''sir you yourself have checked the campus twice. She is not here.''

Maan moved his hand through his hair in agitation. He pulled out his cell and called his manager.''get me the number of commissioner, its an emergency.''''yes, sir, I will get it and call you back.''

Maan disconnected and called S. chopra, the trustee of this college.

Armaan took geet home.Armaan's grand pa were with them as well. Geet offered for them to come inside but armaan said that he had a test tomorrow. Geet took the umberella grand pa had brought and got out of the car and opened it. Then, went inside.

Commissioner,''don't worry Mr. khaurana we have high alerted all the check points in the city but it would be better if you can give her picture to us. I am still in my office. Come here.''

Maan,''ok I will be there soon.''

Mr. chopra should be reaching college any time now with the dean. He decided to call home to check if geet had reached home. He refused to believe that anything had happened to her. The phone rang.

Nakul picked up the phone.

Maan,''hello.''

Nakul,''hello, maan sir, I was about to call you, geet ma'm has arrived home. I have already tolfd dadi ma and meera ma'm, they are all coming back home.''

Maan could not speak for a moment. She was home. She was safe. All the tension left his body.

Maan,''hmm, ok , I will be coming home soon.''

he disconnected and called the dean and trustee and thanked them for their cooperation. He then called the commisioner and said thanks to him as well.

He was back in the car and driving back, when it occurred to maan that how did geet reached home? A frown marred his forehead.

Geet was sitting in the sitting room with everyone sitting around her. Geet had told them everything

and they have told her about the car accident.

Dadi ma,'' thank god, it was Mr. Satesh's grand son but geet beta please never go with a stranger again. He could have been anyone.''

Geet,''ok.''

Meera,''i will get you a cell tomorrow and feed everyone's number.

Dev,''yeah and it should have GPS facility.''

Meera,''you right. You know I am still shaking, I can't believe what happened today.''

Geet,''i can still feel my legs shaking, everything happened quickly, I didn't have any time to think anything.

Savitari devi looked at her tense face and pulled her in a hug,'' Its al right such things happen, it was

all an accident. Just try to forget it. You go in your room and rest.''

Geet nodded and went up to her room. She changed her clothes and feeling wrung out laid down on the bed. She tried to stay awake for maan but she fell asleep.

Maan had worked up quite a temper by the time he reached home. Dadi ma was waiting for him inside.

Dadi ma,''maan, are you hungry? Nakul set the table for Maan.

Maan,''no dadi ma I am not hungry. Where is geet?''

Dadi ma looking at his face said,''calm down, she is fine, I sent her to her room. She waited for you but it got really late and she didn't knew the phone number, you remember Mr. sateesh? The famous heart surgeon, he had met geet with me once, so he saw her and offered her lift home and she came home with him. Nothing to worry about.''

Maan nodded, his anger still not abated but it was under control now. He went up to their room.
