Pankaj Kapoor doesn't know it. But his son Shahid, along with the producers of Pankaj's soon-to-be-released starrer Happi, are getting together to arrange a very special event.
In Happi Pankaj Kapoor pays homage to Charlie Chaplin. He plays a common man on the prowl in a hostile city. Like Chaplin in his silent films Pankaj hardly speaks in Happi.
The modalities and profile of Pankaj's character are so closely affiliated to Chaplin that the producers have arranged a special festival of Chaplin's films, an event that will be attended by Chaplin's daughter Geraldine and his stunning granddaughter Dolores Chaplin (Geraldine's niece).
The 32-year old actress Dolores Chaplin, seen in approximately 20 films in French and other languages, has apparently caught Shahid's fancy.
Says a source, "Shahid is very excited about the Chaplin festival organized by the producer of Happi, Sheetal Talwar. Shahid is taking keen interest in the festival, not only because his dad plays a Chaplinesque hero but also because Chaplin's grand-daughter Dolores would be flying down for the event. Shahid is quite kicked by the young actress' lineage and luscious looks."
From 22 January Dolores Chaplin will be in Mumbai to attend the festival of her grandfather's films.
Confirming these development, the director of Happi, Bhavna Talwar, says, "Yes, we are hosting a Chaplin festival where we will screen the actor's best films including The Great Dictator, City Lights, The Kid and Modern Times. Members of Chaplin's family will attend the festival.."
