Hi All,
I am new to the Forum, but not new to IF.
After a long time, I am wanting to write again, the reason being this serial.

Maryada (pronounced as 'Mar Yaa Daa') is a Sanskrit word, which means compliance of conventions. It refers to a social code in the sense of customary rules and regulations required for maintaining respectability of rank pertaining to protocol, propriety and position.

I know this serial is about 4 women, but I think this serial is really about the decay of social values in India
And how under the pretext that "India has Sanskriti and Pratha" (which means culture and customs respectively), which we Indians must guard and be proud of.......we have slowly but surely turned quite a lot of our people into an amoral, corrupt and viscious society.😔
Thanks to Star Plus ⭐️ for showcasing something truly rivetting after a long time (unless you count Gulaal, Kali and Sasural Genda Phool👏, which are quite an inspiring tale in their own ways.)
So friends (those who I knew before and who might locate me........ and also those whom I look forward to making here 😊)........whilst the story remains on track and does not degenerate into the regular Jodi cum Saas cum Shaadi cum Love scenes affair🥱, here I am.
Hope all of us have a good time discussing.
Will post my initial comments on the characters in a while.

Hi All,

My take on the characters
I) The Age of Innocence
a) Chinu (Actor - Nivin Ramani)
Chinu - Keh maana abhi hain khali haath, Kabhi to Banegi Apni Baat:
My brother is the best
By far the character I have loved the most. 😃
Simple, earnest and with a hope in his young heart and the willingness to work hard. Chinu is a brother I would love to have. 😊 He is so unlike some of the self contained teenagers we see around us.
Chinu loves his father and sister and give them his quiet support. He realises that he is still young and may not have the brains and the brawn to deal with a lot of things.....but what he can do is stand steadfast like a rock for his sister and do his bit by keeping himself gainfully occupied, be it his studies or his struggling to keep his little family in good humor.
That Chinu does not shy from facing the truth, yet wants to build a better future is his plus point.👍🏼
I like the way he looks up to Aditya.....and I hope that he can continue to do so once the truth unfolds.
Nivin Ramani - Refreshing young actor. 😊...Perhaps not the best in the acting chops so far, but Nivin is getting more and more assured every day.
Personal favorite scene so far - Confrontation with Priya that who will marry her if they know her past. Nivin went from frustration to anger to remorse at having hurt his sister with his words......good acting👏.
b) Vidya - Vindhya Tiwari
Vidya - Mora gora ang lai le,
Mohe shaam ang dayi de,
chup jaongi raat hi mein,
mohe pi ka sang dayi de
Why then is growing up so painful?😳
Imagine yourself as a simple home grounded girl, when you just left your teens behind, where life was all about maa, dadi, bhai, frolicking with friends and ghar ka aangan.........and now imagine that you get married where every thing you see is opulent, too rich to be called home, where (barring Sweety) you are only surrounded by opinionated adults, and where all the fun is at your expense.
Imagine yourself, and your first realisation of a quickened heartbeat (probably at watching a film star 😆...that is what it was for me😆), that tiny blip of the senses and gushing over someone........and now imagine that the moderate blip of the heart quickening at a pulsating rate☺️ where you witness a well toned muscled, fairly good looking man, in various forms of dress and undress😆, and ....who happens to be your man....well at least legally😳
Imagine yourself..... where you are sane enough to know that what is happening with you does not seem fair😳....where you are alert enough to know that the man you are looking up to is not what he seems......and where you know that while the treatment given to you is not that of a loved family member, your reaction has to be that of a family member.😳
That....is Vidya for me.😳
And this ability of hers' to not shy from facing the truth, yet give in her best to these new relationsips is her strong point.👍🏼
Vindhya Tiwari - Promising young actor 😊...Quite good in the shy, confused, come hither bride scenes......Need to watch her in the confrontation scenes that she will soon find herself in.
Personal favorite scene so far - Trying to seduce Gaurav with a song and dance. Vidhya's reaction of fake sultry come hither looks to that of accepting the fact that the object of her drama is not interested in her was well portrayed👏.
c) Sweety (Actress - To be found out😆)
Sweety - But you love me daddy
My Daddy is the Strongest?
My impressions of Sweety are limited, considering she is shown comparatively less on screen. But based on the story and what we know, this is perhaps one of the most interesting characters for the Creatives to build on.
For how difficult it is to confront the reality that the parent you so look upto, is a demon in disguise. Sweety, right now, is leading a sheltered existence. And for that she has to thank not only her mother but everyone in the Jhakar house.
Sample this scene, when she is at dinner with family and Jaggi is describing the SSP's pursuit of a bank robber. And she says "everyone has to take permission of Papa before doing anything".......how terrible it will be when the illusion of the perfect father will break.
The Actress - Does anyone know the name of the girl who enacts Sweety?? So far she is required to do light scenes, and is OK at it
I) The Age of Resignation
a) Mr Prabudh Pradhan (Actor - Susheel Parashara)
Mr Pradhan -
Yeh mehlon, Yeh Takhton, Yeh Taajon ki duniya
Yeh insaan ke dushman samajon ki duniya
Ye daulat ke bhooke rowajon ki duniya
Ye duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hain😳
Is it a crime to lead an honest life
.....is it an even bigger crime to be a father of a daughter...
I think there is no other heartache for a parent than to know your child has been violated and you cannot do a thing about it.
There is no other helplessness that to know that one of the face in the crowd of people is the perpetrator of the crime.....but you cannot identify him.
And there is no other furstration than to constantly support your child, when inside you something must be crying out loud.
I am reminded of a case in India (do read it if you can on google). Its the case of a girl called Priyadarshini Mattoo, who was raped and murdered by a so called admirer of hers, someone who also happened to be very higly connected in the Indian political circles. Her family fought hard for the culprit be punished. And as of today the guy has got a life imprisonment ......not the death sentence. How must her parents be feeling everytime they see the man's face.......🤢
I have a big problem with the Creatives on this one.. that they are not showing Prabudh Pradhan's mental psyche to us.
Prabudh knows he must help his daughter and son lead a normal life, help his familiy survive with dignity, help his daughter overcome her horror.......but yet his own morale oscillates so much that it does not differentiate between the mind and the heart.
Because now......he has pinned his hopes of getting back some solace in life on a family he knows nothing of........thereby inviting further distress in his life.
Whilst I respect Prabudh sensibilities, he has let emotions take the lead in deciding one of the most critical decisions in his already emotionally fragile daughter's life.
A character to watch out for.......
Susheel Parashara - Competent actor 😊...Quite good in emotional scenes......And hor a Hindi actor, he has a reasonably good command on English (including the accent)😊.
Personal favorite scene so far - There are many....Everytime he looks at Priya...with so much pain, distress..yet resolve in his heart👏. Wonderfully enacted.
Hi All -

Very nice perspective on both the characters....These characters are sidelined due to the main focus being on priya-aditya...But you have brought out thier importance really well...
There support the story very nicely and are needed to take the story fwd....otherwise it will get stagnated if the focus remains only on the main couple....

i like this serial because it gives equal importance to all 4 women and thier stories...they run in parallel in the serial....that way the serial can diversify thier tracks and not get stuck into one....
lot of serials try to focus only on the main couple and thier love story and then end up being boring after a period of tiem....

hope maryada stays true to their projected story about how all 4 women break thier silence in this male dominated society...

so far its been interesting to watch the relationships of all the characters between each other...

Thanks pjwa, ......and also for being my first responder😃........oh how childish of me😆
Well like you I too am intrigued and attracted by the well etched storylines of all characters. And hope its stays that way and does not fall in the trap of a regular pyar ki kahani or saas bahu saga.
