It is rightly said that a woman can make or break a home ( aurat ghar ko bana bhi sakti hai aur bigad bhi sakti hai). In a largely traditional society like that of India, a woman plays a pivotal role in determining the kind of life a family leads inside the house. She sets the tone of conversation, the temperature of the curry , the length of the daughter's hemline😃, colour of the walls and everything in between. Of course, there are instances of mother-in-law taking all these decisions, but then again, she is a woman too . Girls of cultured, loving families are brought up with the understanding that they will one day go into a new family and imbibe the sanskars (traditions) of their adopted families and do their utmost in promoting and perpetuating them. They are expected to adapt and adopt and then slowly, if need be, introduce new ideas/practices.
Though our Arpi's Dad is by no stretch of the imagination a cultured person, her mother is all this and more. Her one lesson to her daughter is to safeguard the man -maryada of the Thakur family, now that Arpi is a part of it. So Arpita has made the journey from an innocent yet determined girl to a young wife, with all these values and directions firmly in place. Despite the gravest of accusations and severe tongue-lashings from BJ, she has not once retorted or raised her voice. She has met all the challenges put in front of her, despite all odds, successfully.
The one place where she draws the line and gets into arguments, is with her husband's violent lifestyle. But again, here too, her intention is simply to ensure his well-being: both physical and spiritual. In normal, real life, a young wife wouldn't be required to reform her husband in such a dramatic fashion, but in our story, Arpi feels the need to guide Avi away from the path of violence and crime and into a life of a normal, landed young man. And she goes about accomplishing that in her trademark intrepid way, uncaring of others' opinion.
But this is not all, life leads Avi and Arpi on a treacherous journey, fraught with dangers every step of the way and yet Arpi never loses heart, her faith unshakeable. With the help of all sorts of machinations and schemes, many totally alien to her belief system and values, Arpi ends up being the saviour.............she saves Avi's life more than once and then commits the mortal sin of murder (or so she thinks) just so her husband can live.
Whether her tortured soul will be enough to convince Avi to embark on a path of moral redemption, remains to be seen. But Arpita has done her due and then some and can safely be considered a hero in this tale of crime and love at crossroads. She is truly a super-woman.
I have seen two very strong women at close quarters in my life and take the way they have lead their lives with grace and courage, to be my guiding light.
Once again Prash, thanks for the lovely topic that is so close to my heart😊

Hi Prash,
Wow, lovely replies by everyone so I really don't think I can add more as I agree with all...What can I say that I haven't already?😆....
Arpita is a girl who entered a relationship with her eyes full of starry dreams. Behind this, however, she had a mother who despite her own dismal circumstance ensured her daughter was empowerd and had a strong belief systerm of her own.
When Arpita came to the haveli, this belief system helped her find her place, despite facing the obstacle that bhauji is. Her belief is simple really. Husband and marriage vows come first. No matter what
So when faced with the real aspect of her husband's life, she took matters into her own hand. To show him the way back to the right path. Only a loving wife can do that - this is true of real life as well, though maybe nothing as drastic as trying to change a husband who is a gunda. But in real life, it is upto the women to introduce changes in the marital home, to take the lead, the initiative. That is why throughout history women are referred to as the homemakers.
Here Arpita used her love and her own gentle nature to change the tide her way; it reminds me of the saying that water can wear down a stone, simply by gently touching it, over and over again...eventually the stone will wear down. It takes a lot of patience, off course and Arpita seems to have that in abundance after her inital outburst the morning after the pratiyga. Already we are seeing some changes in Avdesh, new facet to his personality....maybe they were latent traits that needed some non-judegemental love to come to the fore.
Soon more changes will come to the fore, because Arpita will be his saviour at his hour of need and he can do no other but respond in kind. I can see both of them saving each other. And because this is fiction, I can also see them both facing a new life together, the shackles of the old broken.
That is the power of love when handled properly, in a relationship. The power a woman holds. The role she plays in life is different but the lasting one, the one memories are made of is the one of Wife and then mother.

You are so right about the childbirth pain...I had read somewhere that it is greater than any wound a male soldier suffers on the battlefield!
You go, girl!!

Hello Everyone,
Sorry for posting my views here so late. The topic is so broad that I am stuck with a lot of thoughts. I wrote a few days ago how selflessly Arpita as a WIFE is doing her deeds for her Avdesh and in return she doesn't ask anything from him. Similarly, all the women across the globe believe in doing their duties and don't expect a lot in return that is the beauty of woman's nature. May be this is the reason Men say that to Understand a Woman is Difficult.

Man can never be a woman's equal in the spirit of selfless service with which nature has endowed her.--Mohandas Gandhi👏👏

The Selfless Deed:👍🏼

Love is every shade of the rainbow, and no color at all." - Bonita M Quesinberry😊

Arpita encountered the most dreadful and unexpected situation of the Inspector trying to kill her husband in front of her eyes. She pushed him hard but that was not it. Inspector and Avdesh has a physical juggle and it reached a point where in again RV came to the site of killing Avdesh. Arpita who was a bit helpless while the juggle was going on but now had to take a major step to save her husband's lif😲. She picked up the gun and shot the person who was about the end the story of Avdesh. She is such an altruistic person that she thinks he has committed a crime for which she should be in jail and didn't even ask Avdesh to save her to protect her from police or going to jail which usually people do ask for. This
situation as a whole has shacked her and to the extent that she has tuned into a zombie😕 who doesn't realizes whats happening around her where is walking or what is she doing. It is not allowing her to be in rest or to close her eyes. She is not able to be herself anymore. Avdesh tries to console her and says everything will be fine and and at last she finds respite in Avdesh's arms and lap.😍

"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. - Breanna M Herrera👏👏

To Arpita--Avdesh is Everything and her world and to save this world she has self sacrificed herself and has done much more than expected as a wife.👏😊😃 But she herself as a person her spirit is totally devastated!!!!!😭😭
