By mid April, the prime time slots on Sony Entertainment will have undergone a change with two daily soaps making their simultaneous debut.
The two soaps are Thodi Khushi Thodi Gham which is produced by Vipul D Shah and Shobhana Desai and Aisa Des Hai Mera which is being jointly done by Lekh Tandon and Manish Goswami.
"The story of Aisa Des… has been in the making for three years now. It is the true story of a girl's journey through life. While Thodi Khushi… is about a daughter-in-law who questions the patriarchal system," says Sony's Programming Head, Anupama Mandloi.
The USP of both these new soaps is their strong socially relevant content.
"Both are relevant to contemporary society. They are direct and don't beat around the bush. The focus is on a fresh and new way of storytelling. We have not really played up the traditional conservative element in these soaps," says Mandloi.
Besides these two shows, Sony has also introduced two new non-fiction programmes Fear Factor and Kandy Floss in their effort to provide a different kind of entertainment.
"Both these shows are doing well. Though the shows aren't really targeted at kids they love it. We're attempting new things to do on prime-time. I was shocked to hear that the chunk of the audience for Kandy Floss consists of children between four and fourteen."
In spite of the popularity of Kandy Floss, the channel has no intentions of preponing the time from its 11 pm slot. "We are going to have an exclusive week of Kandy Floss episodes at 10 pm next week every day." - Wat abt JJKN then 😭 ????
