Shamji is the true villan of this track

I have never been an Arushi fan - and always thought her a little boring and self-centred.
She married Shakti while heart-broken and desperate. I don't think she was really thinking about anything or anyone except her broken marriage - a situation that was not helped by her lunatic father begging her groom to stay and crying about the fact that noone would marry his daughter now - instead of telling Aman that life is full of difficulties and misunderstandings and if he could walk away instead of standing beside Arushi he didn't deserve her.
... and then by the time what she did sunk in - her pride and ego (and desire for revenge) prevented her from going to Pratigya and Shamji shut the door on her and declared her dead (instead of coming to see if she was ok and telling her she still had options)
I really believe that domestic violence would not be so rampant if fathers told their daughters that it is completely unacceptable if a man hits them (remember how Shamji did for Prats after the fake pregnancy fiasco) and that they should pack their bags and know that their family will stand behind them. Shakti hasn't hit Arushi yet (and as annoying as she is - I hope that he never does) but if he did where could she go? If Kesar's father had told her that she always had a home maybe she would have been more than the shell of a person she has become - and maybe Shakti would not have been so quick to raise his hand to her.
Just like Arushi, Shamji is putting his pride and ego first - at the cost of his own child - in my books that is evil

What shamji did during the whole of Aarushi's marriage track adds to the character of a foolish person he has been presenting himself as. Not only he, the wife and son also added to the foolish lot.
He did burn aarushi's cloths and performed last rites. But did he think for a while why the situation has arised like this - And that he and his wife are equally responsible for what ever happened.
When pratigya had told them about the other face of aman, he along with aarushi, nainaji asked that she should present proof. What happened to all his faith in his daughter, who he knew will not lie. He did not even stop for a minute to think and do some ground work about Aman's character. If Aman said I want the marriage to happen in one week, he immediately agreed and ran to Aman's house. He did not try to buy some time so he can figure out the allegations
Adarsh phoned pratigya and said we only have two days to stop marriage and all. but what did adarsh do. His legs are not working - but his mouth and ears are still working - right? Then, can't he talk to his dad and stop his dad from proceeding with the preperations. They claim themselves as respectable family, so they should listen to and respect each other's words also - right?

Hi Light!

I have called Shamu the villain in his children's marriages for a looooong time now. To add to it by his own admission he is a weak father incapable of taking action. When Arusia argued about marrying SCAMwhtether they liked it or not he sat there looking shocked and confused. Adarsh stepped in to reason but she was too pig-headed to listen.

A good parent would have put their foot down and said unless our doubts are answered there will be no marriage. Deep down Arusia knew that her family could be right but her selfishness took control. She had her heart set on a marriage even at the mandap. Shamu stood there rather than threaten to send her to jail for marrying a married man. Where did all his knowledge about riti riwaz and kayada kanoon go on that day? To hell in a hand basket? Seems like it. He always takes the cowards way out in any situation.

He insults his son in law to his face. He shivers in the presence of SS even though his bahu is SS's daughter and he as her sasural could wield some power over the Takurs who are so set in their ways acc' to society's expectations in some ways just like the Saxsenas.

I completely agree. At the Mandap when Arushi slapped Pratigya, Shamji should have got up and slapped Arushi, grabbed her and walked her home - The IG could take Amaan - a grown man with his own independent career, but Shamji could not take his college student daughter. He was a witness to his daughter's act of bigamy - as SHE led Shakti by the hand to the mandap.
As far as he knows his youngest daughter is being beaten and raped - and what does he do. He is impotent in every sense of the word!!

I agree with the points raised here...I even said could shamji not drag Arushi out of the mandap by her hair?..call the local mental hospital and have her sectioned?...tell the pandit to go?...anything? beside just standing there?...obviously not.
The reality is when a child grows up there is very little the parent could do if they set their mind on something. I suggested the above thinking at least in India, people would understand why...but If I were to drag my child by his/her hair out in the Uk, well I would be facing jail instead!!
I always said Guruji acts like he isn't educated...for I have never seen him acting like the educated professor he is supposed to be. When the daughter, he professes to love and believe came to him the first words out of his mouth was 'get proof'?😲😲...where did that faith go?...as for that mother of theirs, asinine woman actually said ' what can we do ? we can't question Aman.'🤢
Actually the whole lot of Saxena's have 'treat us as victims' written on their forehead.

that why Angad and his two headless arms was trying to take advantage of them, Sajjan singh can pick up the phone or just drop by and intimidate them. They have no voice or stand, aarussia, has proving that on her wedding day, yet the will never see their faults.

There was a reason I referred to Saxes as dumb da dumb dumb dumb. They don't think, they not act when there is a solution. Often I wonder who the chilld is and who is the parent. When Arusia said I will marry SCAM and that's it, Shamu looked like he was being threatened at gun point.

Had he kept his mouth zipped at the mandap instead of screaming "who will marry my daughter now" like he was auctioning her off in a hurry, KN would never have said "I will" and this bigamy could have been avoided.

Going back to the beginning of the show we saw Shamu nervously turning and looking to see if Angad was following them. When people smell weakness they like to play cat and mouse with their prey. And Shamu has been walking around with a poster around his neck with the words "Kick me, I deserve it for I am a coward".

Shamu sure has some kind of disorder, which I do not the name of.
At the dining table when Aarushi declared that she does not want to wait and want to marry Aman at the earliest, he started shivering. Then when Adarsh tried to reason her, Shamu expressions changed as if he is thinking 'God, why is Adarsh opening his mouth against Aarushi, now how am I going to solve their differences'. His focus totally shifted from the main point in the conversation.
