This topic might seem a little rude, but I don't mean it like that. 😕 I have no right to question how someone's finances are handled, but since this is a fictional familyI thought perhaps I could 😕
I'm just curious. Why are the Saxenas suddenly in such a severe financial crisis? As far as I remember, apart from Adarsh's treatment, they haven't really had many expenditures? Not much on Arushi's wedding, and even less than that on Pratigya and Adarsh's wedding.
Prof himself had a miraculous recovery from a heart attack (he's the only person I've ever seen who didn't need hospitalization)..... he's been running up and down stairs etc and he's fine.
They've never spent much on Komal, except when she asked for 3000 rupees once.
They never give gifts to anyone, nothing. Plus, I've never seen Adarsh having physiotherapy, which would be the main bulk of the expenses.
It hasn't even been months since Prof and Adarsh are jobless. Prof had the attack about 4 days ago. Don't tell me that if he doesn't go to uni for 4-5 days, then they don't have any money left at home. He's probably on paid sick-leave.
Komal was being unreasonable today, she should have kept quiet when they told her there are money issues. But I think it is a little extreme they way Saxes have reached poverty in just about a weeks time. 😕

I am pasting part of what I typed in the topic opened by Madamgirl "Is it wrong??"
I still do not understand why they have to get into such pitiful financial state in the first place. I understand and agree that raising 3 kids, having all of them educated is not a easy task for a middle class family. But we have to remember that Prof has not spent a single penny for Adarsh or P's marriage. He should be planning for 3 marriages as well, where as he got to spend only for one marriage. What is the reason to become pennyless by spending for one marriage. Does it have to be so lavish, that he will become penny less.
And I think there will be some thing like sick leave with pay, accidental insurance etc. which people use (especially the working class).
Didn't prof and Adarsh know about these
or never looked into these? Strange for the samajdhar padi liki family

Its such a shame because they are going to need some serious cash to pay for Arushi's much needed therapy!

👏 Very well written mnsu. Echoes my thoughts exactly.
You're right that the weddings were not sudden unexpected expenses. The prof had known for more than 20 yrs that he would have 3 weddings to spend on, and he should have been putting money away like all parents do. He had a mother to provide for when she got ill. Plus everyone saves for retirement.
The Saxenas are so lucky, they didn't spend on the weddings, except some at Arushis, they gave no dowry. And nothing to their only bahu, Komal. They don't have car insurance to pay for, no house rent, no college fees. Neither were their kids very demanding. Prof is still working and so was Adarsh till a few months ago.
It's seems that they have really made very poor financial choices throughout their life, that in less than a week of Prof taking a sick leave, they don't have enough money for basic household expenditure as well. As you said, Strange for the samajdhar padi liki family.

🤣😆 So true! Psychiatrists do charge a lot of money don't they? But knowing Arushi, she'll get that treatment free too. Given that she's such hot property, the psychiatrist will take a sudden liking to her as well 😆
