She wished she could do something about this pain. It wasn't her arm that was hurting her, it was her heart. She couldn't forget the way he'd looked at her when Kala had insinuated that she was unfaithful. This was the final blow. All these days, she'd believed that her love would truimph. His silence, and the fact that he'd shot a hateful look at her before he left the room, confirmed her worst fears. She could not fight, any longer. Not when he didn't trust her.
His steps were unsteady, but he could see her clearly. As he walked to her, he heard Kala's words again. Infidel. Yes. His face contorted in rage, and yet as he moved towards her, he knew that he didn't doubt her for a moment. He was scared. And angry with anyone who even dared to look at her. She was his, and he wanted to hide her from prying eyes. He hated it that she'd stopped smiling. Hated it that she had smiles for everyone but him.
She sensed his presence and before she could even speak, he'd trapped her between himself and the wall. She was used to his hatred and anger, but this was new. It was rage in his eyes and yet, when his lips found hers, she felt avenged. She couldn't stop the tears. He wasn't in his senses. She had to stop him. She tried to push him aside, but his harsh words echoed in her ears, "You are mine. I will kill the man who even looks at you."

He'd failed to acknowledge her presence again that morning. She smiled wryly as she realized that he was her lover by night, and enemy by day. He just didn't remember anything. He'd fallen asleep after uttering those words and she had stayed awake, looking at her husband who thought her a cheat.
She stood by the window, gazing longingly at the moon that would always be out of her reach. A single tear slid out of her eye.
He watched her and felt that urge again. Why did this girl evoke such feelings in him? He'd been betrayed by two women, women he'd showered affection on. If both those women came back into his life, asking him to take them back, he knew he'd simply say no. Because it was her he wanted. His wife. His friend. The keeper of his soul's secrets. His nemesis. She was all he wanted.
He had his arms around her, and she felt him nuzzle her neck. She responded for a second, and then remembered that he was doing it because he was drunk. She tried pushing him away, but she had her back to him and he had his arms tight around her waist.
He was drunk alright, drunk on her. He didn't know what she was doing to him. Whatever it was, he couldn't ever remember being so high. Her voice jolted him out of his trance, and he pushed her away shocked at himself. She held his hand. That was when he realized that she thought he was drunk. He pushed her away and stormed out angrily.
