"I am just saying that we could have done this deal without risking with the penalty and nothing else" Prithvi spoke calmly only to be cut off by a furious Damini "no Mr. Prithvi Saxena you are trying to tell me that the decision that I have taken for the company is not correct, that I am not fit to handle the Gujral empire" "nahi I don't mean that......" "don't tell me what you mean and what you don't, I know you well enough to know the hidden taunts in your words by now" she was so irritated already and her man had to tell her wrong when she was just in a mood to spend little time with him. Why in the whole world did she have to fall for the dumbest man alive? With an exasperated gesture of her hand and her fuming face, all red with anger she turned away from him while he looked at her with a peculiar smile of his. He knew what all that sham of anger really meant, but he hadn't been able to tell at first as his mind had been occupied with the deal they had nearly lost today and then this whole penalty issue told to him by his mother-in-law in order to convince her stubborn daughter was a one of its kind task. His smile widened at how the whole family seemed to depend on him to convince the 'gabbar' of the house as they believed him to be the expert horse tamer, but then they didn't know that how much heavy prices he had to pay just to get his wife talking to him as she certainly wasn't one of those horses who could be tamed by any of the tricks he knew. They were like growing together and everyday he would discover a surprisingly new element of his wife and then never get tired of her, the love that had blossomed within the thorns of revenge had slowly become so pure and colorful that he wouldn't mind handling the barbs and let her get only the love and care from it for he knew she had suffered too much and much more because of him and the feeling of protecting her came from unseen depths of his heart automatically.
As he continued to stare at her angry self dreamily, Damini couldn't help but get angrier. He wouldn't even apologize for what he had done, what did he think that she'd melt away under that gaze of his and lose herself in the warmth of his arms or what? Well she would have but not today, as today she was angry, very-very angry. "ab aise ghoor kya rahe ho? Pehle kabhi dekha nahi hai kya?" she snapped at him bringing him out of his very own Damini land. "dekha toh hai par kya karun dil nahi bharta" he muttered still half dazed "kya?" she looked at him glaring daggers as if he had been abusing her silently or maybe that's what he thought "who.....who.....paani ka glass please" he stammered, as much as he threw those romantic liners spontaneously, he couldn't bring himself to say them back for they were too 'corny' for his 'decent' image. "khud le lo, mujhe aur bhi bahut kaam hai jo paani ke glass se zyada important hain" and giving him a hard glare she sat back on her study to pretend some important work. "pyaase ko paani pilaana punya ka kaam hota hai Damini, aur usse zaroori aur kuch nahi hota" he said taking a sip from the glass that now stood captivated in his palm for he knew the fight would be long and he might go out of words due his dry thoughts "tumhe shauk hai toh karo punya ke kaam, kyonki tumhe uski zaroorat hai. Maine aise koi paap nahi kiye jo mujhe yeh sab dikhaawa karna pade" she said without looking at him and then suddenly bit her tongue as the room grew deadly silent. She had not meant to say this but it had slipped in her fits of anger.
Cursing her short temper for the 100th time she slowly turned around, to find the room empty, 'he must have been real hurt by her words' she thought and got up to find him and get things on track. Slowly walking to the door thinking of the words she'd be using to treat her wounded lion she reached there only step back in reflex as it barged open and Prithvi came in with a cup of coffee in his hand. He looked at her embarrassed as she raised her eyebrows to it "I.....I thought you might need it.......you have been working for quite a long time I guess" he spluttered, no trace of the damage she had caused by saying those meaningless things. He handed the coffee to her and walked to the study closing all the files that lay open there. And before Damini could comprehend or oppose to what was happening around her, she was relaxing, leaning with her back on to his chest between his legs as they sat on the bed with her relishing every sip of the coffee he had so lovingly made. He pressed her head gently from the sides as he found her getting comfortable and relaxed, she stiffened at the gesture and tried turning her head sideways to look at him but he didn't let her "just relax, let the business tension not ruin our private time" he said and she immediately smiled, this was just the perfect man she had fallen for. Who understood her beyond anything and though once in a blue moon, surprised her with his gestures that surpassed all levels of being a loving and caring husband.
She arched up her neck backwards, supporting it by his shoulders as his hands moved from her temple to the shoulders gently massaging them as they talked about nothings and everything related to them and before she knew it, she was asleep. Prithvi smiled at her innocent sleeping figure as he discovered that from the irrelevant tale he was lost in telling her, and keeping the empty cup on the bedside he made her lie on the bed properly and comfortably. Kissing her forehead, as he tucked her in Prithvi himself settled beside her, smiling as she snuggled up to him comfortably, looking forward to a new dawn and more of such fights with her. As in between these fights lay their love, which bonded them in a happy family
