Ragini goes to Bollywood
The current small screen favourite, Ragini Khanna is all geared up to act in Bollywood. She has recently wrapped her work for Rakeysh Mehra's Teen Thay Bhai. Helmed by debut director, Mrigdeep Lamba, this film co-stars Shreyas Talpade, Deepak Dobriyal and Om Puri.
Ragini recalls, "I got this film offer post Bhaskar Bharti and before Sasural Genda Phool happened. During that time, I was looking for work and I came across this offer. I auditioned for the role and was selected." She elaborates, "I play the love interest of Deepak Dobriyal. It is a very interesting role; definitely something you guys have never seen me do before." Shooting for the film was a fantastic experience for Ragini. "Mrig was too sweet. The best thing was he knew what he wanted. He often guided me and did the same in a subtle and encouraging manner."
Surrounded by men on the sets, Ragini exclaims, "I was the only woman on sets. They all treated me like a baby because they have been in the industry for so long."
The film is set in the beautiful locales of Gulmarg and Punjab. Ragini says, "I was required to shoot for 15 days in Punjab. It was like a vacation for me. I ate like a pig."
Doing cinema doesn't mean an end to Ragini's television career. She says, "Serials have made me what I am today. I want to work with good directors and want to play good characters — be it in films or on television." Though Ragini admits, "Bollywood is male dominated. but television is dominated by women. I am lucky to have the best of both worlds."
