A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed. Henrik Ibsen
Avdesh sat cleaning his gun, his face blank. Arpita approaches him to put a tikka on him and he refuses. His blistering glare tells her he is still angry.....his rejection is witnessed by Bhootni, who carefully composes her face but could not hide the spark of delight in her eyes....she takes the puja thali from Arpita and proceeds to put the tikka on Avdesh herself....he willingly submits, without one look at his shocked and hurt wife. His rejection of all Arpita stood for seems complete to her in that moment.......Bhootni turns in the screws and lightly taunts her about going into the rasoi and getting on with the work.....no doubt recalling how proud and happy Arpita was to pass the ritual which enables her to take charge of the kitchen....now Bhootni's attitude was one of dissmissal - mistress to a servant - Avdesh stood by silently, not once looking at his wounded wife....
Bhootni then pretends to give advice, pushing in the knife and telling him this girl left everyone for a man - you.....Avdesh, decides to spill his torment, thus giving her more ammuninition with his words that he won't run after Arpita....Bhootni looked like she has had a brainstorm in how to get rid of Arpita now.....
Life is the flower for which love is the honey: V. Hugo
In the kitchen a sad Arpita silently goes about cooking kheer for her beloved husband....he has hurt her repeatedly with his actions and she is determined to show him nothing but love, hoping it will penetrate his blind suspicion and unfounded accusations.....Bhootni comes and see's her and starts rubbing salt in Arpita's wounds, taking delight in rubbing in Avdesh's words and actions to her......Arpita for her part listened silently, eyes pools of anguish and hurt as she absorbed the hateful words.....when she spoke, her determination to win over her husband and his love was clear, more her belief and trust in her love was abundant.....
Life is the sum of all your choices: A. Camus
Bhootni goes down to her chamber of horrors and reveals to LS that she was one who saved him.....her motivation was so Avdesh won't fulfil his vow, that he will be kept separate from his wife...till Bhootni can get rid of her...š¤¢...LS left with thoughts of coming back and making trouble between devar and bhauji....šš¤¢.....
In the Rai household, jagat is the girl of the house now...refusing to eat until Papa stops talking about his marriage...his vow that he will die before marrying the girl picked.....all pointing to perhaps Jagat too will be rescued from his mandap on his wedding day by a gunda...ššš¤¢.....Papa Rai is determined to get his bahu though.....š
My thoughts:
I am not liking this distance between Arpita and Avdesh...the way he seem's to have forgotten her innocence and pure heart...that she could never wish him bad....I also did not like him confiding in Bhauji or hurting Arpita by his actions, thoughtless though they were....but not like him at all..... Where was his hyper awareness of her feelings and thoughts?...where was their eyelocks?.....All this is pointing to at least two directions, that they will have a temporary separation where Avdesh will learn that his love for her is strong and nothing and no one else matters, then will have a big romantic moment where they affirm their love once more....and the other is where he unwittinly give idea to bhootni that how long will he chase after her?...Bhootni took this to mean that Avdesh is fast losing interest in Arpita, she will use this to somehow get rid of Arpita and then sit back smug in the knowledge that Avdesh will not lift a finger....
Wrong....Avdesh really loves Arpita, more he knows she has burned all bridges behind her...so if she were to mysteriously leave...it may stop him in his track but he will demand an explanation and come after Arpita....if they were to have a temporary separation, even then he will fight against it....for Arpita is his.......Like all men, he is secure knowing she is in his home, his wife...so when he has a bad day, he takes it out on her, sulks to his heart's content but lo and behold, should anything were to happen to her....the tiger will pounce in a heartbeat to protect his beloved......
Bhootni does not understand this. I've said this before and say it again, she can never understand their love. Because to her love is self serving, selfish and a game of intrigue.....Avita love is of a one soul in two bodies....it doesn't need lots of words or romances or games....It just is. ....Avita have a good foundation of love, they now will be building on it and learning a lot about each other...
When that love is threatened, Bhootni will see the true depths of their feelings.....she is looking at the surface now, taking words at face value but not understanding where it is stemming from, what hurt Avdesh is experiencing and why.....He is suffering the agonies of a real and true lover....he thinks his own wife does not believe in him and it is eating at his own sense of self worth and value as a husband...because he thinks that as well...for he knows that if he had caught LS then their doubts and uncertainties would have been over...He would have shown Arpita what he is to her and what she means to him....
One thing, though, I want Arpita to be more stronger and proactive...when Avdesh turned away from her...I wanted her to then go looking for him and blast his ears off...remind him of their love and now it looks like he hates her, to ask him why...maybe say rather than this, kill me or kick me out because it's better than living like this....anything to shake him out of this attitude...
As for Bhootni's action in releasing LS, it will come back to haunt her...I think she has made a mistake, one amongst many......
...The Rai family, I think all is pointing towards a collusion with Avdesh and Arpita again...soon things will be clearer.....what if jagat comes running to Avdesh for help?šš......Papa Rai may also turn to Avdesh for help as well......
