Actress Karishma Tanna feels she doesn't have enough to do in the show

It was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that first propelled the leggy Karishma Tanna into limelight. The comic character of Indu brought a smile on the faces of Kyunki loyalists. However, the actress is now on the verge of quitting the show that made her a household name. "I have not been called for shooting since the past two months," she shrugs. "I admit that Kyunki... is my claim to fame but as an actor I want to grow."
Tanna, however, admits that Indu is close to her heart. "I identified completely with the child-woman in Indu. She was a lot like me," she says. The other reason that things aren't working out between Balaji and Tanna is the latter's commitment to UTV's Paalkhi. "I'm not the main protagonist of Kyunki... Also I didn't have a full-fledged track yet, although I enjoyed being a part of the show. When I was shooting for Kyunki... I'd still be left with a lot of time on hand. Hence, I decided to take up UTV's Paalkhi, in which I play the main lead." The actress who has been mulling over her decision to quit Kyunki... says: "I didn't really want to quit the show. But I realised that my track was going nowhere. Also I do not see myself anywhere in the show after the leap takes place."
But that certainly doesn't mean that Tanna is not willing to take up more work. "I now want to do work that excites me," she says. "It must have something for me to do as an actor. I refuse to stand in the background as a prop, I've passed that stage in my career." Tanna informs that there is no bad blood between Balaji and her. "I appreciate that they didn't waste me and my time by giving me one scene in every episode," she says matter-of-factly.
